Thwe DIY will be held at the basement 1 carpark...this is the direction:

 

At the entrance ..you will be stop by the security...

Answer: Visiting my friend , mep koh at tower 2b, unit 04-01.

 

next he will direct u to bike park..which is at the rear of the condo besdie the club house...but turn right after the barrier is lifted...ride slowly you will pass the first entrance(to the right) to basement--don not enter this one.

keep on going and follow the road..there is no surface bike park at the front of condo.... u need to go round the condo..until u hit the second entrance of basement car park..which is at the side..u will see a side gate/entrance before the carpark entrance, come in..squeeze through barrier..

 

i will be waiitng there at the entrance of the basement carpark.

 

okay..easy ah..turn right after security check..just ride slowly and enter the second entrance of basement car park.

after running the bike with the diy oiler for about 300km since i fitted it...

i am surpised at the quietness of the ride..

the shuffling of the chain , and the attendent noises beore the diy is gone..

the ride is just one smooth dude....

 

so take a mental note of your ride..and listen to the noises generated while riding..

after the diy ..when the oiler is run in...listen and compare..hope you all can achieve the riding nirvana i experiencing now..hohohoo

those whose diy is still having problems...come over next saturday...lets fix it..

 

and gentlemaen...please submit your diy oiler after 1 week operations...see where we can improve on its reliability.

those who rode to to JB..with the oiler...seems to be satified...

result..the chain is shiniy and oily...this is a sign that the device is doing its job..

next task is to decide the dosage vol...and dripping rate..this you all have to work it out yourself.

2 chain is properly oiled and shiny..

Thanks mepkoh for getting all the logistics sorted out for the DIY Oiler project!

It was a fun learning experience. Looking forward to see if any ideas churn out of my head on how to bring the Oiler to the next level...

Yes, still short of 1 on/off valve and air release valve (check valve), what do you think.

i personal preferance is that the simpler it is the better..

thus i have fixed V1...where a pump is used..no valves..

 

the purpose is to oil the chain...i am not interested how accurately the device will work,

obviously with the setup..it is going to be aweful.

 

the only draw back is that you have to decide how much to dose on each ride..

yeah maybe that is to 'lecheh' for some.

 

i tend to over doze ..maybe i am impatient..keep on thumbing the pump when i dont see the poil coming out after a while...yeah should have more faith in that device.

 

anyway...i am happy with my set up...

Problems identified during the diy..

 

1. hamster has poited out that he bottle may not be able to withstand the vibrations...and may wear itself out.

solution...add a cushion /insulation bewteen the bottle and frame of bike where it is attached..i have in mind to find the thickest double sided tape...to use as cushion..

the other solution..is akan datang...i will show you a picture of my ride when i fixed it.

 

2. the pump leaks...

there is the possibility of pump manufacturing deects..so change pump is the answer.

but ...the possibility of air lock is most likely..ie the oil cannot flow and you keep on pumping and thus there is presure build up in the pump and finally it busted it working presuure and leaks through the pump shaft..

a...in that case check all valves open.ie the jandle pointing in the same direction as the tube,

b..shake the tubes at the area where cable ties secure the tube/oiling point.

c. run bike and allow the vibration to work out the kinks for u..

d. and make a tiny hole on the tube where the tube runs vertically down.this acts a relief valve to overcome the problems of air ;lock.

e.. be patient do not keep on pumping..go for a short ride..instead..

 

the above should solves most o the problems encounted in the diy.

one more problem.

vibration between the bottle and frame, using the 3M weather proof double sided tape, good and sticky

oil will leak from the metal valve also, cos 1 sided is threaded, so u will need to seal as well.
