Alright! I'll make a visit towards evening time (say, machining work starts at 5, I should be done quite fast cos it's just two parts to do). Later is fine, since the 'workshop' is underground lol. We'll confirm timing when the day approaches, since it's a familiar place

 

so you can extend an open invitation for a dinner biking seminar at the nice Western food place, if anyone wants to tag along

new to my phantom, i was scared stiff when my bike's engine died on me while i was on expressway @110km/h. i tried igniting it while the bike is still moving but to no avail. about 5 to 8 seconds later, the engine roared back to life. after that, a sound seemingly like metal clanking started to appear. it's always there whenever i start my engine now. do the lao jiaos here know what may be the problem?

I'd send it to the workshop immediately to inspect the chain tensioner.

 

Not your drive chain to the rear wheel; 4 stroke engines have a timing chain driving the camshaft and valves on the top part of the engine.

 

The cam chain assembly is considered one of the weak points of this engine; service tensioner and chain every 20,000kms.

 

Avoid stressing the bike at high RPMs to prolong cam chain life; if you often ride above 100, consider replacing the rear sprocket with a smaller one (stock is 41 teeth) and up the size of the front sprocket to keep the chain length constant, or close to it.

 

This will enable you to cruise at high speeds at a lower RPM and thus reduced stress on the engine. If you do this most basic of optimisations to suit your riding style, you just have to change gears a bit more to get to cruise velocity then it's smooth sailing the rest of the way. You'll sacrifice additional fuel to get up to speed but over long distance lower RPM cruising pays off in both cruise economy and reduced engine stress.

ta200 custom4 can only start in neutral gear.

you can always throw clutch & clutch in for push-start if you'r on th move..

 

did th bike jerk befor th clanking sound comes on?

whr does th clanking sound seem t come from?

engine block wise, it cld be piston ring.

I didn't know how the engine roared back to life, now i know...

anyway, i can't really remember what was going on during that incident. but the sound comes from the engine block. i brought it to Bike Image as recommended by my friend for servicing. they charging me about 400 to 700+ (depending on parts that needs to be replaced) for an overhaul. found out that I DIDN'T CHANGE MY EO SINCE I BOUGHT THE BIKE IN MARCH. how noob can one get.... trying to raise money now for the servicing

id say its 80% chance tht your piston ring is loose,

lack of EO caused that..

 

top ovrhaul is only 300 odd at surgeon koon.

full ovrhaul wld be ard 600.
