Hello!! I tried to ask them a couple times throughout the years but was always rejected, this was before I turned 18 and 20.

This time I just tried to ask them though I've already made up my mind to go for the lessons even without their approval.

Surprisingly, my mom gave in to me this time round but she still doesn't allow me to get a bike of my own even if I were to pass my 2B. So that's a pretty tough one to crack for now.

Maybe it's your family practice to discuss this type of thing but the way I see it, it's your decision. It's like trying to convince anti-gay people on pro-gay stances; it's pointless. Just live your life your way; if people take their distance because of this then so be it.

 

I especially dislike parents who still have an invisible umbilical cord attached to their children's lives. If your relationship with your parents are like that, you might wanna consider finally "growing" up and cutting this cord off.

As an adult, whether you end up learning to ride or not learning to ride is your choice and responsibility. You have to choose what is more important, your mum's feelings or your passion.

 

I tell those who like to cry about how they couldn't get to do what they wanted because their family didn't like/allow it. But you cannot blame family, because they may say it, or even disown you, but they never tied you to a chair and prevent you from doing what you want.

And being that parent, I wish I can see my son riding on the roads. My wife forbids him to get his license, let alone a motorcycle.
