have been driving a vios for one and a half year.... no major problem and only one minor body problem (i suspect this is due to the driver's lousy driving skill) which can be easily rectified.

all cars are mass produced so you may find a couple of "this and that" sometimes, even in made in japan cars.

you may want to list down on paper the pros and cons of both cars. it should help you to decide better.

very the happy with my vios in terms of looks, consumption, power, storage space except for the price of the coe...... :weep:

I agree totally.

Vios is soo much better than Getz. Hyundai car always break down after a long time of driving. EG, a couple of yr later, problems will start to appear.

I am driving a Getz 1.3A now. Personally, I find that the FC to me is great! FC is a very commonly discussed topic. To me, I define FC down to the driver and not the car. Even if u get a very good FC car and the driver has a very heavy right foot, then he/she will then find that the FC for the car is not good liao. Another thing to consider is also the mod that u have in the car. Cos some ppl mod this and that then later complain that the FC is very high, then blame everyone that the petrol price is soaring (I have a friend that is like that :cheeky: )

Well, U can always test drive both cars then slowly decide loh. Dun only listen to other ppl comments cos u r the one driving and not them. For more opinion on Getz, u can log on to the forum and check them out loh. Got alot of nicely done up getz also, so u might be poisoned before even getting one sia!! Enjoy ur car hunt then!! :goodluck:

Its sad that many r still biased against korean cars. Saying things like Jap cars will always win Korean cars... :nono:

Like marvypower said, many Hondas r now produced in Thailand.

Piggyanne says Korean cars will break down after many yrs... I ask u which car won't?? U mean only korean cars will have probs n Jap cars won? where u heard this from? U experience b4? No rite? All is heresay only ya...

Lets be fair lah huh, there r pros n cons in both rides. FC wise, definitely the vios wins hands down but safety wise Getz will win due to their more sturdy build. If a Vios n a Getz were to crash head on i would say goodbye to the Vios...

The Vios may have a bigger boot but u may not believe this when i say the Getz interior is much more spacious den the Vios. For real! I sat in both n the Vios is realy cramped compared to the Getz.

Eventually decision will lie with u. Ask urself wat r ur needs. If u r more concerned bout FC, get a Vios. If u wan comfortability n safety, go for the Getz. if u can't decide den go with the flow n get the jap car cos "jap cars always win korean cars"

PS- Korea is winning Japan in every way now. Economy wise, living standards etc.. Even soccer oso win :cheeky: So who says Jap will always win Koreans? :sian:

im working in the automotive line, for me the price u pay u cant expect much as for u say korean car spoilt easily it all depends on the car owner. some owner can dont do maintainence for 50,000 click no topping up of coolant water even it dry up in the expansion tank... how u expect the cars to work properly for you? if u juz wan to enjoy and dont wan to accept the facts that car muz be maintain properly to keep it going well ma.

Thai Amulets do not produce instant miracles. Wear it with faiths and a good heart. Eventually you will see the effect.

Im letting go some of my thai amulets which I had collected throughout the years when I go to Thailand. Do PM me if you are looking for something which u cant find in my post, I might have it. Thanks :)

Korean vs Japanese?

Just go make a comparison between a Hyundai Coupe 2.0 and Honda Integra 2.0 (not Type R). There is NO competition at all. Power, torque, features, reliability, FC, Integra wins hands down.

FC i can confirm integra is better...but the rest i think is the same...

as for comparing japan n korean...i can only say that korean r really working very hard in-term of automotive and drama/movie....hahah...and i can say that one day they might juz overtake japan if japan dun work harder(too bad korean automotive industry started later than japan...)...i can still remember my parent told me abt their younger days that japanese car not good but ppl buy them becos cheaper than european cars as all their cars r made of "gu ni gong"(milk tins)(koreans are having a situation like japan then)...but look at them now...japan motor industry has progress and overtook the european cars in alot of aspect...now even the ang mo have to try and catch up with them....

my point of view is go test drive the car urself and have a feel of both cars as most of the ppl here stereotype becos they oni hearsay hearsay base on last last time (i used to be like tat too...)..i can confirm that the reliablity of korean cars have improve dramatically ever since 1999 when the production of car improved...gone were the day in pre 1999 where korean cars got bad paintwork, bad FC,low pwr, lousy build quality and the common complain of oil leaking....juz to quote an example is that my in-laws have been driving a end2003 accent1.5(M) till now...other than wear and tear it's still working fine...and believe me(up to u) they can clock ard 16km/l with their driving style(i can only clock 13km/l...heehe)...and toking abt FC of japan car....anyone mention the nissan sunny or the impreza(becos of extra shaft for AWD) as both of them can sometimes clock below 10km/l? dun believe???....you can go chk out with their owners cos they didn't have good FC. and if u r toking abt reliabilty...check out the recent news abt the recall of toyota cars becos of steering problems which affect ard 5000 toyota cars in spore and toyota are now being sue in japan becos this problem toyota actually found out afew yrs back but didn't do any action until someone die in japan due to the steering problem which cause the accident.

i am not saying that the korean cars r damn good now and i must admit that japanese car still have a cut above koreans but they really provide value for $$$, reasonable FC and build quality. and pls dun flame me cos these are all my point of view and experience...

both vio n getz i also have alot of friend driving...like other ppl mention earlier getz have better safety thats y abit more heavier, but if u toking abt the 3dr getz...it's faster(0-100km=9.8sec) together with bigger cabin compare to vio even though it's 3dr...dun believe go and test drive...toyota u get better FC becos of like weight body but the trade off is weaker carbody...dun believe go n press the both car metal and u will know wat i meant. i think Vios is build to save pedestrian when u knock them by crumbling in the engine to the cockpit even though u oni knockdown a HUMAN (trade off= bankrupt with higher repair $$$ and pay hospital, loss of job and blab blab blab to the survivor who should thank you for saving his life and ur $$$ u gave him) and GEtz is build to murder pedestrian becos harder framework but protect the ppl in the cockpit.(trade off=lower repair cost becos juz change bumper but walk off guilty/fines becos u kill someone instead of u or ur $$$..hahah)...all these are only based on knock someone...imagine knocking onto TAXIs....juz to share some story... dunno i heng or suay...now already got 2 friend's vios met accident with taxi and both car kanna total loss...but the taxi still car drive ard...

I have to say that my harsh verdict is partly because of previous experiences with Korean cars. I've driven a Kia (the mid-size one, not the small one, but I forgot the name) and sat in more Hyundais than I want to. There is one common trend among these Korean cars. The power delivery is still okay, but the gearbox is far from smooth. The automatic shifting is jerky. And of course, the interior of the car is very "plastic". You know you're driving a "budget" car the moment you sit in the driver's seat. Even the Hyundai Coupe didn't impress me compared to the refined interior of an RSX (Integra) or a Scion tC (Toyota's "budget" replacement for Celica in US).

But Vios has nothing much to harp about either. The steering wheel is stiffer than an AWD Legacy, and it springs back to dead center too fast. And the brakes... So memorable. A light tap on the pedal sent me jolting forward. Can somebody please work on that damn hydraulic system. For such a light car, those brakes can send you skidding in an emergency. In this aspect, even the Kia is better.

The final verdict? You get what you pay for. There are somethings you can save on, but don't save on safety. But if that's what you can afford, I say go for Getz. Korean is catching up. And at least the brakes won't kill you in an e-brake situation.

There are pros and cons for both cars. The FC for vios is better and the power wise is gd as well. Vios can hit sub 9 for 0-100.....

Getz power is ok for it's price and with suitable cosmetic modifications, Getz can be a very sporty hatchback. Vios can be a sporty sedan with accessories as well but pple tend to overdo vios and it looks too much.

The rear passenger space for Vios is smaller than Getz. Confirm guarantee chop man. I tested it with my fren's Vios and Getz......

So at the end of the day, see what you look for in a car and make the best choice....

Hi,

I've read all the threats earlier...

I'm considering to get the 1.1M Getz because of certain reasons... Can anyone enlighten me on the 1.1M Getz? I believed power wise sure negative but its cheap! overall looking same as the 1.4 and 1.6 Getz.. Its true tat the rear passanger seat for Getz is spacious den the Vios and the price is much much diff. I heard 1.1M Getz FC is good but not sure of the power... I oso had heard tat even full load the Getz 1.1M can go up to 150-160km/h, Isit true? As for the FC, full tank can give you 600plus km for normal ride...

I need advised too...Thanks!

In this age of riding fuel prices, you should not be so concerned about the price of a car. Especially in Singapore where running cost will become the bulk of your expenses. Saving that few thousand dollars means nothing in the long run, especially if you will get sick of its lack of power. Remember, since it has no power especially at low end, you'll step on the accelerator more to get it going. There goes the so-called fuel economy you bought the car for.

actually, u guys got ur info wrong... the top fuel efficient cars rate as the following:

1) honda jazz

2) hyundai Getz 1.1

3) honda City

*the new hyundai avante gives u average of 13km/l... which rates it amongst these cars...

anyways... i didn't talk c**k over these claims... they are from national environmental agency (NEA). got chance when i free i paste they link for u...

BTW, japanese cars more reliable over korean cars??

i've nvr heard of hyundai being recalled for steering cone problems. and hundai cars have an average of 4-5 stars for their safety rating.
