[Technical] Possible Solutions to your Phantom's Problem

Hi guys,

 

Need help with the bike. Was overseas for long time. Missed riding very much. When tried to ride forgot to unlock the metal chain I put on a front wheel for security reasons. When stopped found out that the cable/spring was torn. Now speedometer doesn't show how fast I'm going. Also there is some crack on the wheel, photo attached.

 

Is it dangerous to ride with such crack? How much will it be to repair it?

 

it is dangerous,,as the collar may break up and more get stuff gets damaged....best get it changed..

if u want to ride..ride slowly.

Hi guys,

i think you can just head to scrapyard to look for a 2nd hand wheel already... no matter how slow u travel. when the collar gives way , u holan liao...

 

 

i need look for a rear wheel also ;-)

Bring the picture to planet to show and ask for advice. =) who knows, a replacement may be cheap but not your life or the one you pillion.

Thanks for advice, guys, really appreciate it.

Today went to Planet, they changed collar and put new speed cable , cost me S$50. Not sure whether it cheap or expensive, but I'm satisfied :)

Hi..

i encountered problem that i am getting harder to kick to neutral gear and "biting point" getting closer and closer toward the handler.. When clutch in fully, around 2-3cm the max 4cm will hit the biting point which i believe is getting lesser and lesser compare to last time.. I do not know what happen.. u all gt encounter such problem before? really need help.. thank thank =)

is it time to change engine oil???

 

if not ur bottom nut holding the clutch cable to the engine block is loose...vibrate and ur freeplay goes haywire, unless u tighten it...

 

is it over revving when u fully release clutch???

Go as far as you can see; when you get there, you'll be able to see farther.

i just changed my engine oil 2 week ago... i not sure abt over revving when fully release clutch.. sometime kick up gear must not enter the gear swee swee, might struck or drop...

last time rev abit still can kick back neutral gear.. now only i off and on engine den can kick to neutral gear..

if u cannot clutch in properly..after adjusting it t max...

time to change cable (it may have lengthen..) or that the clutch spring inside the engine has kaput...anyway head to workshop to get it rectified.. or worse clutch plate and gears need to be replaced.:goodluck:

 

have encountered similar symtom...the cable is too stiff making the clutch adjustment a night mare.

bring your Ride to ah chong.. sure settle very fast de...

 

i think your clutch cable needs to replace.. signal to get it change liao..

 

If not later snap in the middle of no where.

If i were you, i will check the oil levels just to be safe first.Make sure is in the XXXX. For the freeplay etc, go to planet for advise =)

hi dudes, wondering if anyone can help me here?

 

Problem 1: Loose bike chain

 

Two weeks back, the chain on my phantom 150 fell off, while i was still riding. Anyway, somehow, i managed to attached the chain back on. But now, the chain is kinda loose. In fact, it's rather quite slack, and there is a "metallic" sound everytime i ride on it.

 

Problem 2: Stuck foot brake pedel

 

For the last couple of weeks, i oso felt that the foot brake is a little stuck each time after i hv depressed it. It's not completely stuck, but just a little. That means after i depressed with my foot, the pedal does come back up, but not completely. Then abt 2 secs later, the pedal will bounce up a little bit more, to its orignal undepressed position.

 

Anybody can help with this? Will really appreciate your opinion. Thx :)

1... check your tension tighten if necessary...if exceed max position..time to have chain replaced.

check for wear: at the sprockets pull/push chain links up and down if u can feel chain is moving then chain/sprocket needs to be changed.

 

2. oil all joints...return spring may need to be change. at the same time check for brake fluid level may be insufficient fluid.

sounds almost like something is amiss with the brake pads or brake discs... check if the brake pads are worn out...?
