Was wondering, when moving from traffic lights.. You all drag gear 1 until how much rpm then change to gear 2? Some krrs i see pickup damn fast..

 

I tried dragging gear 1 till 6-7k rpm but when i close throttle to change gear, the engine brake is too much, very jerky, bet it doesn't look nice..

you should have clutched in fully before you close throttle liao... shouldnt have this problem

 

if you want faster acceleration, try high revving after u clutch in then slowly play half clutch until fully released to increase the acceleration... its smoother and faster cos u can rev to optimum powerband 7-8k i believe, rather than if you clutch in, change gear, clutch out then use throttle to accelerate the method they teach in driving centre). the bad thing abt is is tt ur clutch plates will die very fast if you make this a habit

if u want to talk abt skill not enough, its all about whether you want to do these things enough n whether u can conquer ur fear.

 

admittedly i've done some very dangerous things before on such outings/trip due to my inexperience... so much tt i'm slacking off on them right now. i know i'm quite lucky to still b in one piece. so in the end its still a very personal choice...

i change ard 4-5K RPM @ 1st gear

so im always one of the slowest bikes when moving off frm traffic light

pickup so fast for what

we still so young...got plenty of time...no hurry

hi, i would like to noe what's yr fuel consumption... i ask coz my fuel consmption like too high... i pump full tank, now it's 230km, and left very little fuel, will go to reserve anytime...

i heard got sum ppl say their KRR can go 300km without reserve...how come their fuel consuption like so good?

well once move off enuf speed can up gear already. faster way i was told is to prep ur gear feet below the shifter, once light green pick up n up gear but am v klutz still not gd at it keke er btw why u need to close throttle to up gear? i usually just clutch and up gear.

And what are the factors for better fuel consumption? Is it the grade of petrol? Am using V power now, heard it will burn better then regualr petrol, is that the reason for the high fuel consumption?

 

i also scared will hit empty of the expressway, if on the right most lane then die lioz

Just my personal experience, I've never had good mileage with V Power. The petrol seems to "evaporate" away.... What abt the rest of u guys?

honestly am not sure abt the fuel consumption bit and i guess it depends wat u hv done to ur bike. well always pump b4 the limit and tat's wat i do, i kerna empty on exp way b4 but lucky not much traffic and was close to left lane so i had to move to the side and turn on reserve...tat was last time on my previous bike when i just started and i didn't know at all.

It seems "strange" to me that the KIPS varies by quite a wide margin with regards to the mileage. Given my lousy riding habits, I am never gonna be called up by anyone to do "save petrol contest or tests" no matter how hard I try.

hmm yeah i dun understand why too and it seems that mine is the lowest, could it be due to the riding style and habits too

 

btw i pump 98 at either esso/mobil and it's all for convenience due to the speedpass

factors include :

* tuning (more air/fuel)

* riding habit (open valve = more fuel)

* maintenance (poorly maintained bike less mileage)

* petrol type....

 

mayb the big diff in mileage is cos our definition of "full tank" varies a lot? not to mention the c*** up inaccurate fuel meter.

 

yes supposedly v power gives less mileage than the other petrols... this has been discussed many times in other threads. dont worry lei... i've never hit empty on eway before... besides, kips reserve = 2 litres = abt 40km... can go entire singapore liao, scared wat?
