Defensive riding course 8.30am to 1.00pm

8.30am

Was supposed to meet and have our theory lesson in the classroom but it was being used so we ended up in the simulator room. Unlucky because we were going to miss out on the accident videos. Had a little chit chat while waiting for everyone to arrive, signed attendance..etc.

9.00am

Lesson start, the instructor talked about following distance and our riding mindset. Some main points:

"I am sure you all have thought about being involved in an accident and going through the pain. But what if you died upon impact, ever thought about that? I am sure you all see green light, in the mind is just whack la! You at 80-90kph, it takes one to two seconds to pass through the junction. A full safety check would require five seconds to pass through. Is that extra three seconds worth it to save your life?"

So he went on and on about how vunerable we are on two wheels.

Next, we took turns to try the simulator, whack every gear then do ebrakes. Then talked about the theory behind our reaction time. Example, expected and unexpected situations.

9.55am to 10.15am

Tea break on the house.

10.30am

Practical! Chose our bike, the CG125. Damn it feels weird to be back on this bike. Tank feels tiny, and handlebar feels vague. Went for 2-3 rounds at the circuit. Took me awhile to get used to the biting point of my bike, damn high, almost released fully then it bites.

Next, we went back to the mini circuit and had a little lesson on tyres and riding posture. Went around the mini circuit several times doing tight turns, then we went out in pairs. Second one to chase the First one, very fun! :cheeky: But I got a little too excited here, banked too much, scraped the crash bar and dropped the bike. :weep: Nevermind! Just a bruised ego which recovered quickly and I was back to chasing.

11.00am

Next up, we were taught on controlling a skid. The floor was very wet by then, First of the instructors was spraying water on the floor the whole time while we were riding. The instructor pulled a small wheelie and whacked passed the cones then jammed his rear brakes with clutch in. Skidded damn far and hit the tyre wall at slow speed, guess it was intended. Next, he did a skid with turning and he stopped 90 degrees just inches away from us.

Our turn to try! First try, I braked too early and the skid wasn't very significant. Second try, this time I whacked so hard, when I hit the clutch and brakes, my bike skidded to the right, I stopped quite far away. Very shiok! Third try, I whacked harder! Skidded to the left then to the right and I stopped pendicular to where I came from. Continued playing for like two more times and we went out to the big circuit again. This time to test our own corner limits.

11.50am

It was break time, there were only like two cars and us in the whole circuit. Ride around fast and kup corner with the instructor, anyhow whack. Go against traffic light..etc. Then we went to the T shaped parking course for cars, they call it directional change I think. The instructor was able to do a U-turn in there! :sian: Whereas all of us couldn't make it haha. Went on for very long before entering a car S course, I saw two fallen bikes on the floor. The first trainee following the instructor fell, not sure why, think it was a skid. The one behind just dropped his bike on purpose and hurried to help him. Thumbs up! :thumb:

The trainee was experiencing pain in his right leg, so one of the instructors attended to him while we carried on.

12.25pm

Back in mini circuit and parked our bikes. Sat inside the simulator room and while waiting for our certificates, we did a feedback form on the course. The trainee who fell earlier on even had to fill in an accident statement, but he looked okay already.

12.45pm

Said our goodbyes and went back home.

End of report

Two things I learnt from the course: Controlling a skid. Our own cornering limits.

Overall, a 7/10.

Not really "free"... just taking a short breather from work. Besides I guess you should come over & see my "new" PC. I call it the 1 minute PC. Why? It takes one minute to do anything... 1 minute to start Microsoft Excel, 1 minute to load an Internet page, foooook....

That's exactly how the way I feel now. Cannot multi task at all.... cannot even run anything in under 1 minute!!! Pentium 200MMX is not even fit to be in a museum!!!

How did you crash it before boss decided to buy you a new one?

hi, like to ask typically how long does it normally take before u guys need to top up 2T. Less than a week plus after I top up, the orange light comes on again for me.. seems a bit too fast... was using some castrol semi-synthetic. Is this typical?

its either yr bike is heavily mod OR you've tune yr 2T to the max till its drinking 2T.

Typically, it should last you for a good 3-4 weeks before u top up.

Nike - Just do it!
