Lets say if my friend rented a car but i commited an offence when i drove it but i wasnt the one who rented it. Will i be charged for driving without insurance? What are the fines? Licence revoked?

What offence?

Cars need to have registered driver insurance?

Licence revoked?

You got licence to drive that car or not?

What insurance? For what I know for car is not like bike.. Any qualified driver can drive any car.... That's what I know la..

Coz my car last time also we rent it out... Got parking summon, what I did is return the summon letter with drivers' particulars, then they will send summon to the driver at time of offence....

Rental car insurance is regardless of the driver. Unless its stated otherwise that only a registered renter must drive the car. ie your friend.

Any offence will be sent to the car rental company and the car rental company will fill in the renters name as the driver and the summon will be for the renter. ie your friend.

not displaying any p-plate is also an offence.

And if I do not remember wrong, the renter letting a p-plater driving the rental car without the expressed permission of the rental company will mean the renter may be sued for disobeying the rental contract.ie. your friend.

Hmm confusing. So for some cars, the insurance covers the driver with the valid age and experience? But then, its still legal to drive as long you have a valid class 3 right?

Correct. Only the renter will have to answer to the summons or the rental company for his/her allowing you to drive the vehicle w/o the expressed approval from the rental company.

Hmm another question. So if i rear end someone with the car, the insurance doesnt cover and i have to pay out of my own pockets right? Will i be charged for driving without insurance coverage in this case?

Why didnt the insurance cover?

And yes, you have to pay out of your pockets.

In this case, you will be sued, not charge.

Hmm lets say the car i drive is a REX and i am still p plate. So technically, in the contract it wont cover, am i right? So when that happens, i wanna ask, will i be charged by tp for driving without insurance coverage or i just have to pay the damage thats all. Just giving an example.

Look at it this way.

In the eyes of the law, you are a qualified driver as long as you possess a valid class 3. As a "P" plate licence holder, whether the car rental company rent you the car that's a business decision.

Ok. why dont you tells us what actually has happened and why are you so insistent about being charged by Tp for driving without insurance coverage.

Hmm no, its just an example. Cause i recently drove my friend's rented car. Never tio anything but just wanna ask what if this and that happens.

What about 2b? Why the difference in insurance may i ask? If not part of the sub rider and rider contract = licence kantong right?

If I were you, I will not drive a car that someone else has rented. And in the first place, even if it's my own car, I will ensure I abide by the laws here and not get myself into trouble. Self control is the word. If you're itchy, then rent the car yourself or buy one yourself. If you cannot afford then work upwards to make yourself financially capable of owning it. Because if you cannot own it, you will not be able to afford all the hassles of legal implications.

Car, and bike insurance do not share the same terms and conditions.

Bike insurance is rider specific whereas car insurance, in general, are not.

Correct. And not to mention, fines, possibly jail if the owner confirm that the rider rode the bike w/o his/her knowledge.
