This sounds embarassing but i need all the help i can get from any of you experienced S4 riders out there.

I'm taking my 2a course and wonder if there's any way to make handling the S4 easier?

I find the S4's weight a little heavy and I also find it hard to control the throttle as just a little twist in second gear can send the bike lurching.

Didn't help that i've been riding a scooter for almost a year and having to re-learn using the clutch foot brake.

When doing the S course and crank course, is it better to lean the body or lean the bike?

Any advice also for the bumpy course and slalom?

Thanks guys (and girls! - seeing petite ladies on S4s makes me really envy! :thumb: )

good we can all learn together. no need paiseh.

handling? it is the easlier to control among all the 400cc. heavy? u got to get use to it. open ur trottle gradually, u will get use to it.

When doing courses, follow what ur instructor. grip the tank tight. I feel that it is better to lean in with the bike rather then just the bike or just the body.

bumpy just open close trottle with clutch in and out technique. if u find that u are going too fast, use abit of your rear brake. when doing half stand, grip your fuel tank tight as well.

slalom, pick up speed. close trottle when at the sharp bend, open trottle when it is straight to bring the bike into position. repeat the process till complete.

*just follow the instructor instructions and u will make it through.

gd luck.

lyke all the other advises, Just follow the instructor...wen in doubt juz ask them...the last time i rode a bike before my Class2A was the CG125 at BBDC...it means tat for my whole 2B, never rode a bike...exclude the countless times testing my frens bike...a bit shaky at first wen i started lessons for my 2A..even had a few falls..but no worries, u'll soon get use to the power and weight of the bike...

ok guys, thanks for all your wonderful advice. wish me luck. by the way, i really like the S4's engine sound. so different from my single cylinder runner. and the power... fuwah... i think if i don't hang on, the bike will just take off without me! heh...

those in driving centres usually have more power restrictor i guess. the bike was damn slow. feels like no power. but when i bought my version s, it was "welcome to the real 2A bike".

I'd rather get a Leo Vince than a Louis Vuitton.

ssdc one good enough for me. too much power and i could end up inside longkang.

getting the hang of the S4 liao. lesson 1 pass liao. next week, slope, narrow plank and slalom. :sian:

Its the best period to experience the change of bike weight and performance during 2A lesson.

Bwang only physically pain, heart wun pain =P

Get the feel of S4 during this period is the best.

So that we can have preventive measure when we have our own s4.

Advises by instructor, might not be 100% correct and they got different version from diff instructor.

Follow your heart and do it correctly.

Dun be despare if multiple and high point are attained during last practical test.TP time, standard of marking might have a diff.

Im a high scorer for 4 rnds of last practical with unacountable reason, but TP i got an ''EGG'' XD

Gd luck for ur lesson 2 .....

Me had tried XJR400 when taking up 2A at Comfort Driving Centre.

Much more heavier than CB400

My advise is not to give up whelther its negative comments from instructors (as they still mean no harm) to being a high scorers during lessons.

Picking up all the safety or handling skills are the most important. At the end, still got got ur 2A when u pass ur TP test.

IMHO, there is a few things to take note when riding s4 at ssdc

- grip ur tank tight for all courses

- eye point look at where u are supposed to look, at first a bit weird but u'll get used to it soon

- be sensitive on throttle, cannot be like 2b open and close too fast

- play half clutch if throttle too sensitive (tat's wad i did when i took the lessons)

- practise the courses u most jialat with during revision

- most impt LISTEN to the instructors, they are the most experienced when it come to those courses :D :D

Actually your eyepoint also plays apart. If you are not sure, just ask the instructor there, for sure they will assist in your quiries. They are really helpful in clearing your doubts. Experince it bro and you will enjoy your ride for sure.:D

Just dun look at where u dun wan to go and look far... grip ur tank all the way thru the course and after u go ur 2A u can put ur leg on top of tank and no body will kick u... ha ha

Slow will get you to your destination always.

Practice makes perfect.. The more prac you go inclusive of self prac the better you get.. You can gauge your own weakness then ask instructor for the weak areas..

Just like owning a new bike, you get better at handling it as the days goes by.. Same principles apply for your class 2a..

All the best man..

Take note, no matter how good you are, if no luck means no luck.. hehe

wow, so many good advice! glad i came here for help. thanks guys, you're the best. i guess most of you are right, it's just a matter of getting the feel of the bike and being "at one" between rider and machine. as bro otokonoko rightly pointed out, different instructors have different teaching methods. i find that the best method is try out everything they teach, and then stick to the one that works for me.

Hey two wheels, there's nothing to ashamed of about having difficulties in handling the s4!

When I first started on my 2A lesson, I encountered difficulties in getting used to the power and weight of the bike. For a start, just throttle a little and maintain it, then you release your clutch bit by bit in order to understand the amount of surging force the s4 gives.

Other than that, practice will enable you to have more and more confidence on the machine!

Good luck and I hope you will enjoy your 2A lessons and tell us the good news! :goodluck:

Biking is something that everyone can learn and enjoy! :goodluck:
