iridium plugs will give u better firing, but will wear our your "wad-ever-is-that" earlier than normal plugs... still, can go for iridium de la... no need to worry much...

pc5 + dyno should be ard $700-$750...

you may see a pic of my bike with the side panniers here http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=280149

I prefer to keep the OEM so that the pillion & the top box is cleaner after soaking in the rain. But the GIVI panniers comes with a extensio bracket for the rear signal lights.

Removing the OEM license plate holder with the side panniers installed will not make the bike even more sporty but more "practical" unless without the side panniers.

I feel the H&B too boxey & does not gives a nice contour butt feel from the rear.

Nice setup! Not cheap either, but I believe it is "one cent money, one cent goods".

I just bought a FZ6 S2 and I'm thinking of putting on a set of Givi V35 panniers as well. Do you recall how much they cost you in your setup, and where I should go if I don't want to pay exhorbitantly (i.e. Mah) or wait excessively long hours (i.e. LAB)?

Anyway, I'm new to the club and sport tourers. Hope to learn more from experienced riders here. 请多多指教!

No bike shop in S'pore can bit the price quoted by LAB. This is my personal opinion based on my experience of patronising LAB for the last 20yrs.

You want fast & convenient then you have to pay more not vice versue. No such thing as cheap & yet you will get big BOOBS.

I cant remember the price of the V35 Side panniers, but the sets of mounting brackets are also not cheap, may be appx. total $900++ dollars inclusive of installation. I guess a spacious, good & reputable brand side panniers will still cost you anything from $800 to $1000.

Let me guess, you installed 3M reflective strips underneath the red lenses of the V35 panniers as well, right? Exactly what I would do also, except I don't have the delicate hands. :(

You dont have to waste time guessing, in the market 3M is the best even the TP is using it.

I used the 3M BLACK reflective strip below & on top of the red lens for the side panniers. But the top box i used the WHITE 3M reflective strip. Thus, you can see that it is much brighter. As shown in the SBF Fazer Club forum "Pic Set Up For Touring" that i posted.

For the side panniers & top box red lenses, inside the red lenses i used the WHITE 3M reflective strip. The texture of this white strip is fabric-like material.

This set up is very visible & effective when the road is totally dark & foggy. Also very effective during heavy rains. Vehicle behind you can see you from far.

Yup Kevin, indeed the 3M reflective strips are the best preferably the diamond grade is the best! :thumb: It's super reflective!

rhema.... u changed to FZ liao... hahahahha time to tone down liao si bo... muahhahah

Yup. I had my share of fun with the crazy K4. It's time for me to care more about my aching bones and muscles.

Anyway FZ6 is not really a "tame" bike loh. Go search "FZ6 cup" on Youtube and be prepared to see onboard videos of riders flying around the track on FZ6 faster than we ever could on literbikes.

It's a good choice, my friend. How about you? Still enjoying your Blackbird?

r u running in rite? running in period normally will have a higher fuel consumption. the gear changing oso plays a part in the fc. n i always believed that big bikes, the slower u ride, the more petrol it consumes. if i nvr remember wrongly, reserve shd b 3.2L or 3.4L. estimate 15km/l, reserve shd a able to last u ard 50km. but its recommanded to pump earlier.

Next time I go on tour, my load will be lighten! We can share spare parts since we're both riding the same bike!

Ano is no longer riding Blackbird. He's riding a VStrom 650 now. He has toned down too, i guess...

fz1gen2 cannot hit 330km, but fz1gen1 can easily hit 320km, mine did 330km before reserve

Mine average 15.58km/L for month of Feb 2010.

I records my petrol expenses monthly & the bike consumption & distance covered per tank filled. I top up my petrol at SPC after 11% discount for SPC member thus saved a bit.

My riding is 60% experssway (mainly during peak hours) & 40% city road.

Date Km Litres Cost Avg Km Per Litre

3-Feb-2010 215.00 13.64 $22.42 15.76

7-Feb-2010 246.00 15.70 $25.81 15.67

12-Feb-2010 206.30 12.83 $20.86 16.08

15-Feb-2010 247.70 15.05 $24.33 16.46

20-Feb-2010 225.00 14.70 $23.76 15.31

26-Feb-2010 241.30 15.22 $24.61 15.86

I feel is just a matter of getting use to it.

Are you sure your K8 can give you 360km.

My former Diversion XJ9S give me 360km for average 17.5L consumption before reserve.

Based on a realistic figure of 16km per litre, the maximum range FZ1 can be about 288km.

The older FZ1 has slightly better FC, but the tank is also bigger at 21 litres. Those 3 litres makes big difference between stopping for petrol now during a trip, or stopping at the next kiosk.
