Good Luck to all current MDIS students! Their graduation is simply overpriced! See the post below, crop from stomp. See this link for another entry 2 years ago, and brainless reply from the school. All they know is, "people charge me, so i charge you loh". http://talkback.stomp.com.sg/forums/showthread.php?t=48508

So much for being a MANAGEMENT school.

Looks like this will be an on-going "annual" affair for MDIS.

Here's MDIS-Bradford graduation ceremony issue this year (2009):

1. On 30 May 2009, MDIS email-ed all graduates their eligibility to attend this year's (2009) graduation ceremony. At this point of time, nothing has been confirmed, except for the ceremony venue.

2. Thereafter, coordinators from MDIS went MIA (Missing In Action), email enquiries from graduates were not replied. A common joke among the students: because we don't owe MDIS anymore school fees.

3. Ironically, an email enquiry regarding MONEY was replied, promptly. It is informed by MDIS coordinator that if we require a transcript before the graduation ceremony, an admin fee of $32.10 is chargeable, payment to MDIS.

4. 5 months later, on 21 October 2009, graduates received an invitation letter for the graduation ceremony, from MDIS, finally. (note: 2 weeks before graduation ceremony)

a. Spelling error spotted on THE Invitation Letter. " Complete and return FORM A (together with payment for guests, if applicable), regardless pf your attendance at the ceremony." (note: I suppose "pf" is "of")

b. Ticket for each guest is $55 ($42 in 2007, inflation?), graduation gown rental fee $60, plus $150 refundable deposit. As compared to other schools, MDIS does not provide complimentary tickets for graduates' parents, not even 1 ticket.

c. Each graduate is only allowed to invite a maximum of 2 guests. There goes the big family. Guests below the age of 12 are not allowed. So parents, your kids cant witness your graduation.

d. Invitation letter sent on 19 October 2009, received on 20 October 2009. ALL payment (tickets for guests) are to be submitted to MDIS by 26 October 2009. (6.5 office operating days of lead time for busy working adults)

e. It is only until 20 October 2009, that graduates realised they need to report to the graduation ceremony venue on 7 November 2009, 9.00AM. With such late notification, working adults might need to reschedule their work duty. (MDIS needs to know that not everyone enjoy the 5day work week, especially after graduates completed their course and move on to other job)

f. Certificate will be ready for collection from 16 November 2009 onwards (note: graduation on 7 November 2009)

g. Graduation gowns need to be returned by 14 October 2009, in order not to forfeit the $150 deposit. (note: certificate ready from 16 November 2009 onwards) In other word, graduates will never be able to take a "full dress" photo with the certificate, unless you pay more for the gown.

h. Personal photography is not allowed during the graduation ceremony. Studio provides 3 complimentary 4R size photo of graduates. ie no soft copy.

i. Collection of graduation gown only available from Monday to friday.

5. Quoted from ST Forum, Oct 27, 2007 - MDIS states, "We take a serious view of all feedback and ensure that all issues are resolved." From what i see, the only issue the school looked into, is to adjust the ticket price from $42 to $55.

6. To date, timing for graduation ceremony has not been revealed. Same goes to the timing for guests to arrive.

7. Monetary issues have been promptly settled.

8. Problem 1, MDIS have to look into timeline issue. Sitting on the problem will only cause more problems and dissatisfaction for the future students. Problem 2, such overpriced graduation is really not worth attending, especially when personal photography is not allowed.

Then again la, i study just for the cert. No cert = no promotion, no job interview

Most of the time pple in my profession are more recognised in professional cert rather than academic cert

on one of the course i research, find mdis damn expensive too. but what to do they r still a school. if ppl need the paper still have to pay.

now still looking at alternative. most funny facts not sure anyone here faced or not. total degree is about 16 module for 2yr. 1yr study 8 module but 8 module actually belong to Microsoft so cost i think is cheaper. but total cost for 16module is 25k while exemption per module is ONLY $200 =)

really duno what to say or do if people like me need the degree.
