Rare bike why not comments right?

Heard that it's thirsty and heaty... Don't know what else.

Very very nice bike to me though...

But price wise:faint:

ya, am thinking of the same bike & been trying to do local research but seems to be very little info or small fan base cuz there is very little info. can't believe it - there should at least be a KTM Adventure (or just KTM) owners group or something like Harley and Ducati have (hmmm, maybe its just my poor internet research ability!).

Everything has been said before, but since nobody listens we have to keep going back and begin all over again.

I don't own one but rode with a friend who does. My opinion - Pretty impressive engine and performance on road for a very dirt oriented bike. Handling was nice and light too despite looking kinda huge and running on 90/90/12 front. It rocks even more the moment we hit plantation roads in MY.

Not sure about the wear and tear part if it's gonna be used as your daily commute although I think that's not what Katooms are made for :p

Stock is good...Choose your weapon wisely and enjoy it...you can have all the $$$$ to mod and in the end you can't make full use of it....

Any local owners care to share any reviews or information or personal opinion about this bike?

Few weeks back, just did a ride to Endau Rompin with a KTM990 (carb version).

Naturally it's a very powerful and capable bike on, and off road. It has a high road clearance but not a high seat. At 199kg, it's marginally lighter than a Vstrom 1k at 208kg, but once the move, the KTM is definitely more agile.

In that sense, it's more versatile than the Vstrom 1k or the Vara1k.

The suspension is great, but the USD fork bottomed out on a few occasions when hitting deep port holes. But this can be easily corrected.

Personally, I would prefer this than a GS.

Think he got it from Dirtwheel, dun think Looi's sells KTM. He's seldom in Sg as his job invloves in lots of flying around all over the place, lol. I seldom got the chance to meet up with him in Sg too. Follow your heart and go for it! Tis a gd alternative if u dun wanna go the German way. Not much of mechanical failure that I heard of so far. What are u worry abt?

hi guys me riding a 990..this bike handling is good the bike is light..the power is there when ever u need it .i try 180km/h with full load panniers with pillion not a problem at all only thing is that the fc is bad around 280km it will hit reserver aready(24litre tank) ..but not to worry there are bigger aftermarket tanks out there.oh and the tires only can only use pirelli to wat i know cause of the rim size..(21 front 19 rear)other than that this bike is wounderful to me ..

For a person like me who spends his time more facing the monitor than out there doing justice on adventure....

We seek nothing more, nothing less....just passion.

Any guys rode this beast before? Did a research between this and the GS adventure. Conteplating btween the two. But from what i read in ADVrider forum, the KTM Adventure is more agile on/off road. More fun to ride. Having said that, the GS adventure is a headturner and sure is comfortable for long distance touring. If any of you bros and sister personally own this beast, your input is greatly appreciated. Whats the fuel consumption like, reliability, maintenance....etc. Thanks in advance. Cheers!

Haloo...Am A Lucky & Happy Owner Of A 990 ADV S(Limited Edition).

Handling- Nimble on the move & stationary.

FC- Kinda on the high side, Hi Rev Riding, I would Get Abt 250kms before Reserve Lights come on.

Maintenance- Regular 4,000kms- 5,000kms Oil change/Bi-Monthly change of Oil filters..If you do oil change monthly, Semi Synth will do otherwise.

Tyres- Not Much Choices like other rides cos of the specs...Currently Pirell A/T Scorpions covers d grounds for touring n 30% Off Road..Sticks like Hell in Sunny Days & Wet Days Even On the white lines markings!! Fierce looks & Pro Off Road will be Continental TKC-80s.

Handling- If You are above 1.65m, BAr risers advised..

Options- Crash BArs & AfterMArket End cans..sweet combi!! VTwin Engines Sounds so sexy on aftermarket end cans!!

Warning- Very Torquey..Throttle Controls need practise..NEck Jerking Experience!!

Leave Me A MEssage If I Ever Cld Help...Honestly cost of the price tag...seems lonely ridin it..but think abt this..Premium tag wit most plug & Play parts..besides the aftermarket parts mentioned needed..its a sweet ride..more power means more responsibilities..LOL:thumb:

How is the service from the local agent? Am considering a ktm, although not the adventure, but not very sure about aftersales.

2 Well known joints...DirtWheel & Ideal Motors..Tho usual oil change cld be done with your reliable joints....

Other major repairs & engine services highly recommendable to the two earlier joints mentioned..

Parts are mostly readily available stock up@ both joints

Woo...250km hit reserve. Crazy boy! But for a powerful, high rev machine, it is expected. Well theres always the Safari 42L fuel tank for that extra miles. They qoute me Aus$1600+- including shipping.

STill considering my options between the GS and the Katoom. We'll see how it goes. My direction is navigated more to the Orange for the time being.

Your 990 S is a 07 or 08 model? Love the looks and the extra height of the 09 990R but too bad, Dirtwheel cant get hold of them. Any idea whether or not Ideal motor brings Adventures in? So far did you have any issues with regards to the water pump and the fuel pump or any major issues?

I had an 03 950 adventure, which I rode to Thailand a couple of times. I had the gel seat and my arse still got pretty sore, so the GS would win in the comfort department. Handling and performance I would say the Katoom wins hands down, both on road and off. Very capable off road, and way more capable than I expected on road. Had some timing chain noise start up before I sold it, but was checked by DW and nothing seemed to be wrong. Have seen the bike around from time to time so its still going!

As soon as I think I can get the time off work I will get the new 990 and do some more touring....will be a few years yet though.....:(

One day, before I am too old, I want to ride to europe, via africa, and this will be the bike I take.

Current ride is healthy wit the issues of water pump..guess they upgrade it..mine an early 990 S 07..

PS- Fuel Tank Upgrades will require ya to upgrade yo front springs & rear springs...food for tots...ya wld be havin biceps like Bodyduilder every time ya put it on MAinsatnd tho
