you pump once only? what about long-term performance/effect on the bike?

btw, anyone know what is the recommeded octane rating for s4?

Recommeded octane 92 and above.

Yes its true..after a few tank of 92, the 'roughness' comes back. Its useful if you are cleaning your fuel system..meaning premixing it with additive that cleanse your chamber and valve train and carbs. It runs as smooth with this premix but don't expect hi-rpm performance..meaning reaching your top speed at the shortest possible time. Save $s this way. You can keep using 92 Ron but detonation rate is faster with 95 or 98. Octane is all about heat and how fast fuel burns and combust in the chamber..its cleaner and better at hi-rpm performance.

Most drivers and riders refer to engine smoothness as a "better fuel and higher ron" is use..that's is a misunderstood intention and theory of using higher Octane or spending that little xtra $s for.

Stupid Hurts!.:giddy:Speed doesn't kill, mistakes does :faint:

To be exact, the higher the octane, the higher compression it can withstand. If not, during the compression stage, the compressed fuel/air will combust without the spark plug igniting it. This will cause the "knocking" effect in your engine as the firing sequence is not in order. Generally there is a guideline to follow as in how much octane you should use by how much is your engine compression ratio. But I forgot how much. But for S4, 92 is more than sufficient. Even a 600cc with high compression ratio can use 95 with no issue. Just follow what your manual recommend and you won't be wrong. Unless you go increase the compression then that is another issue.

full tank with 92 = $32.70

full tank with 95 = $33.28

full tank with 98 = $35.54

they dont differ much right? i mean its true in the long run it does some savings but its for ur engine bro...

sometimes ur baby also want to drink 100 plus... not tap water... :D

but yeah sometimes i also pump 92 at tuas SPC juz to get to GP Shell... hahaha

thanks bro for the calculation! but is it true that 92 is better is saving? they say 92 is thicker and burnt slower unlike Vpower full tank is less than 92

The digit number id the difference in rons (octane grade)..nevr heard of "thickness" :giddy: for petol. The higher the numebr, the higher the octane.

Ron numbers correlated with the stock compression on your bike...Well there is no point pumping higher octane...

Engine Smoothness are very subjective...

And super 4 is not a high power bike....Unlike the current crop of superbikes that have >12.4:1 ratio with more than 180bhp per litre....

Super 4 with 11.3:1 ratio and 53bhp...You will be very safe to use 92...I reckon even with Ron87...There will be no issue as well.....

But if spending a little makes you feel good and develop some placebo in power development of your bike...Then why not??

92, not much power, finish faster. Leaves some colors to your carb. Slow response.

92 Octane ignites faster than 98 Octane fuel because it takes less compression to ignite. This fact causes the petrol to ignite before the piston is at its highest point (TDC-Top Dead Centre) of motion making it less efficient because the explosion of the low grade petrol fumes pushes the piston down and out of sequence before the piston can reach its maximum height, thus causing the ‘pinging’ noise and less power from the said low grade fuel.
