Oh ok.. When I took prac6 there were at most 6 people only, split to two groups. I wonder why they actually allowed so many ppl in one session? Isn't it abit hard for the 2 instructors to take care of all 15? o_O

u went for your prac 6 how many times?

Argh! Flunk pract 4. When I complete the plank, my timing too fast. When i slow down, I go off it. Damn pekchek sia. Haha. How many times u guys went for pract 4?

Posted

for plank, align yourself properly, from gear 1 move off fast, when rear tire is on the plank, clutch in, let the bike free wheel, at the same time use rear brake to slow down. and look far and maintain balance!

Hmm. That sounds much easier. But is it even allowed?

hmm... i am not sure if it is proper/allowed or not, but i used this technique from lesson 4, 5, 8 to TP and nobody penalised me. maybe i am just lucky? i don't see how they will award demerit points on the plank other than not meeting the timing/fall off the plank?

ok, if you are uncomfortable with clutch in, then use half clutch?

btw, if u wanna know more about overcoming the plank, search this forum. i remembered there's a thread on this.

@archer, please don't tell me off without giving any inputs. i am just sharing my experience. if you think mine is incorrect, please share with us the correct technique. i am sure the rest are very interested too. afterall, this is a sharing session. no offense. cheers!

nobody penalise doesn't mean it is correct. if the school teaches you a certain technique, it must have its rational.

as from your signature, you have just passed your 2b, and i presume you have not gotta yourself a set of wheels as yet.

wait till you are on the road with your own set of wheels, and try out your 'you-think-is-correct' way of riding on the road.

a part of me wishes to hear you having a self-induced accident, on the otherhand, i wish you will not, so as not to raise the insurance premium for all other riders.

there's nothing much to share, follow instructions from the instructors. if in doubt, go approach the instructors after the lessons. they are more than happy to provide you with whatever help you need, afterall they are the certified instructors, not me.

I know it might appear as inappropriate to 'butt in' on this exchange, but I have to agree with ArCherR.

Our instructors ALWAYS remind us not to freewheel and tell us of the dangers. They did teach us half clutch control on the plank, look far and press knees against the tank.

It is dangerous to clutch in freewheel. It might appear safe on the plank, but I believe that's only cause you're in gear 1. On the road, you cannot be in gear one and freewheeling will kill you on the expressway. :/

When you get your ride, please be careful when you lane split.
