hey yan tried the barkbuster bar end weight selling at m technik for $40. minus the vibration. currently using it :)

Hi guy

Thanks for all the comments. I'm keen to practice cornering - safely, of course - and will just ride and see how things go. I'm not one of those that will go into a corner aggressively when using a filter lane. Sometimes I see how some guys ride the cubs and it scares me how low and fast they go. Maybe they believe in reincarnation ...

Reddy - I got a Junior Topcase 45L with backrest and luggage rack from M-Technik at $640. Can't remember how much they cost individually though.

Hey another question for you guys. I'm looking to get rid of the vibration in my handlebars. Was asking around and here are some options. Could use your feedback as well.

1) Get risers alone. Cheapest option and will allow for a more relaxed position since the handlebars are pulled back and should get rid of most of the vibration. However, downside is that the stock bar on the Wee isn't very strong and in case of a crash/fall (touchwood!), can get bent very easily.

2) Change the handlebar to a reinforced bar like the Africa Twin bar or Renthal bar. Should also get rid of the vibration but the wider bar would mean I have to lean forward and reach more, thus causing more strain to the shoulders over time.

3) Get the risers AND the handlebar. Costliest option and there's a chance that even though the bar is pulled back, the wider bar would lead back to the same issue of reach.

What say you guys? Anyone got any problem with reach before? Again, I'm about 1.7m and wondering what's the best fit. I'm prepared to shell out cash for Rox risers and an African Twin handlebar combo but I just want to make sure it's comfortable and worth the cash. Right now if I go at 100km/h for about 20mins, my hands start to go numb from the vibration and that's no fun.

Your thoughts?

I can see the problem now. Ur bike is designed to be ridden >160km/hr. Anything less, u will suffer from vibrations at ur hands.

Or get an inline. :p

On a serious note the Strom vibration should be that bad. Perhaps you wanna check your mountings like the engine mounting , cone n wheel bearing just to make sure.

Come original, u gotta come original...

Hi all

Thanks to everyone for the input. Quite a bit to think about.

Thanks to smokin for the suggestion about the bar. Changing the brake line was another one of my concerns. If I add the risers then another brake line is going to cost me more. So in general auminium bars are better than steel bars then? Did a quick search and noticed the bar is reinforced. Should help lessen the vibration. Where can I get one of these? Roughly how much can I expect to pay for one?

And thanks to isk1983 for the idea about the weights. I was planning to get Barkbusters eventually but wanted to settle the handlebar and/or risers first. Was thinking no point getting Barkbusters then changing the bar again.

Regarding what papabread said - does the vibration normally reduce after 160 kmh? So far fastest I've been on my bike is 120 and can really feel the vibration in my seat already. Normally run out of expressway after that ...

Think I'll change the bar first. Should be cheaper than getting risers and the brake hose. If that works out I'll just add Barkbusters directly. Been wearing gloves all this time when riding and still feel the vibration. Hopefully changing the bars alone will fix it.

Thanks again to all for the input. Ride safe!

what i meant is , the strom vibratio SHOULDNT be that bad.. if it is as bad as you described, then you should look elsewhere. my vee is still using stock handlebar with no apparent heavy vibration.

i got my bars over ebay. search pro taper se atv mid rise. down side of this bar are you need to drill holes to get the switches fixed, stock bar ends cannot be fixed unless modified.other than that, it is a great bar.

get use to the vibes, maybe you are holding on too tight to your bars....you'll get used to it after some time.

Hmm is the vibration really that Bad?

Probably is best to meet up a few of the strommers and check it out...

Might just be one of the screw mounting not properly tighten...

or maybe still not use to the Vtwin power engine? :)

Cause it took me weeks to handle it powers, Months to really handle to bike... Year to bring the bike to main stand... and till today to really push the bike properly...

Anyway saw a shiny new black FBE plate bike OTR just now afternoon along Serangoon... only Realise it was VEE when i pass u... and u saw 2 VEEs... ride past u...hehe... so HALO!.. :) Anyone here?...

Reading Yan Kits Inquiry reminds me of Al-Simmons reply to my questionabt the V strom Thread few months ago. Now I get the picture chief!

Anyway, it the bike vib is nothing compare to Harley.

Like the guys say, it could be a couple of factors; bearing, cone. If that is fine then you should decide and look into changing of hanldlebar, riser, fork brace, bar end.

Best is you meet up the guys and compare your ride with theirs and see if it is really's the bike or user problem.

For all you know, you not yet accustomed to the V twin yet like Khaitronic mentioned earlier.

Hi guys, I have just bought myself a Wee... and its been fabulous although still running in.

Think the only people I know in this thread is Khaitronic (went on a trip a long time ago to Mersing but I had an accident) and Mordecai...

I just want to know where is a reliable place to get Givi crash bars and engine guard (bash plate) for the Wee?

I also want to ask whether there is a need to drill through the rear rack to install Givi adapter plate for an old Givi Top box that I wish to temporarily use before i slowly scout for a nice looking one that suits the Vstrom perfectly...

(cos the shop said so but I had reservations about the procedure...)

Ok now to go for staff retreat... No internet for next 2 days... sigh.

Airwolf, if your Givi base plate is those with the crisscross mesh, then you can easily find the holes that align close to the original Vstrom one. Remove the rubber mat and you'll find 4 holes for mounting.

Hanger18, I remember reading that u changed your injectors. Is that why you are looking into having an inline fuel filter mod? How are your old injectors' condition? Natural wear & tear or clogged due to dirty fuel? Did you try cleaning the injectors before deciding to replace? Please share more to help us pre-empt these fuel/injector symptoms.

Any bought a black FZ vee recently? It's been appearing at my carpark. Welcome :)

Hi Barracuda

I have only changed one injector, i guess mine is wear and tear, my bike is 02 model and im the 8th owner so i really dunno what happen during those freaking 8 years but afetr i changed it it was much better, prior to that i had it serviced together with TBS in KnT and Clifford advised me to change the front injector whenever possible. After changing i really had less of those piston slapping or watever u call it.

Last week i went on a trip to Terengannu and on the second day my bike kept dying whenever i close throttle i start the bike again, the bike just wont idle so i just adjusted the idle to almost 2 to keep it alive. TPS was checked before i left Spore by KnT again. The next day i left terengannu i rode to Kl via Tasik Kenyir and Highway 8 the problem went off prolly due to constant running or watever technical motorcycle term u peeps call it. Yesterday n today it happen again. I read up the info at VSRI and i think it should be my fuel filters clogged up and i know the price is ridiculously ex to reply that whole filter(pls dun reply no money dun ride big bike lol) but since there's a better way to improve, then i think i just give it a shot bah

At the end of the day, thank god i didnt sell it to thsoe jabronis who offered ridiculously low price n kept *****ing to me that my bike is not worth like that 6K Vee with Ohlins (screw u bugger) LOL the bike is really fantastic (at least to me) after a good service

sorry for the long grandma story hope this info can help some of u or we can discuss ;), i will try to do the mod soon and try to keep everyone update

Good day!

Thanks Hanger18. Hope you have been reading this http://www.vstrom.info/Smf/index.php/topic,6105.0.html For the rest who are planning on replacing the fuel filter or doing the external filter mod, better read first. Quite informative. For 2007 and onwards ABS Wee owners , read post 27. We only need to replace the pressure regulator holder which contains the HP filter at about US$79.70, part # 15610-27G00.
