hey bro....

last meetup we thought of going on a jungle ride on rompin..

can check with the moto-v guys (denden, foodie, da_vinchee

perhaps a short 1-2 days trip and camp inside the jungle....

it will favour mostly the lighter 650s...although both will have the same difficult task in going through the terrain...

but what the heck...we will go for the fun and every obstacle that we have to encounter will test our skill, endurance and most importantly teamwork...

so if anyone interested we can come up with a plan....

i might be changing to knobbies in march/april to test out with the light trail and keep it for future trip..

The DL650 is the best bike for tour and offroad...the 1k is top heavy...unless you all got the muscles...don't compare with AngMoh...they have meat for breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper...

Anyways, camping is fun stuff..but be weary of camping in Malaysia's National Park as our body and soul are an unknown to the guardian of the forrest..unless you have a local guide or someone who is immune to the jungle..ask around for advice on what are the restrictions..i and 3 other rider got lost during our detour...keep goin in circles and at times drifting away from the route on the gps...at least 1hr 30mins on a mere 10km at best...pray for forgiveness sometimes is needed in time of desperation..have to bash thru fallen trunks, tall grass and waterpools..

I and some riders actually thought of doing a 2 day ride...1st day ride in Endau, detour in some areas...then when it hits 3pm,headed for Mersing and camp at Air Papan...but the ministry at home are'nt to please...so i settled for a 1 day affair..

If you planning for more challenge inside Endau for the trails,i suggest not to really follow the route of Kampong Peta...detour at some loose trails...the views and trails are more beautiful but more dangerous..but wit at least 4 riders in your case, and a good toggle rope..should be able to overcome difficult situation...

Cheers and good luck...all the best..:thumb:

even the DL650 is not for us asians to ride in the jungle. Along the main plantation dirt road into Kg.Peta and campsite area still ok, but not trail/jungle riding like plentong or like those trails at Kota Tinggi. Maybe it's just me...can't get enough balls or muscle lah

Hi, My friend runs a camp in the rompin area, anyone keen if I do a jungle ride with 4WD support? Its gonna be fun! Let me know the Interest Level and would be able to organise one for your guys.

if u ever want to convert a giant trailie to off road riding....the dl650 is the answer.....the rest are just too heavy...

with the same size of tyres to the gs, the off road tyres are easily available...

all u need is a good rider with lots of balls..... that's it... :cheeky:

aiyah...i m no good riders with only 2balls...but all i need to make tha DL 650 into serious off-roader is a pair of off-rd tyres and end-can...why didnt they produce the 650 in par with the 1k...so at least we could get 2nd handed cheaply...

and i don't understand the mindset of my dirtbuddies...they must always choose the AT after getting their class 2...why not consider the DL650?they are missing alot...

hehe no prob AJ, my balls shrink lah when i think of handling 200kg of bike on trails, just as my wallet is. When Loois got new shipment of DL650 in, I will inform u asap. Can trade in your TDM straightaway. Btw when u got yr TDM the DL650 shud be out alrdy mah, what makes u decide on the TDM instead?

i dun wish to buy new bikes...2nd hand only i can afford...

anyway, the TDM was there when i was scouting for mid range bikes...1000cc was out of my list...i was hunting for 650cc...at that time,i could only found the freewind...almost got it...but DW not willing to neg...and almost...yes almost, bought the 1100gs...and i really thank god that didnt happen...nvr regret any decision on the TDM...not willing to trade to any bikes for it...it just need to have the stock for Tourance tyre for the front 18inch and that would be blessing..

Another thing holding back the TDM is the pipe height lah. Imagine u kena flood like the previous trip with TDM. Freewind is nice with the DR engine, Ong let me test ride it before but I think I will stick the V-Twin bikes, shiok lah.

i feel the 1K has more variants of aftermarket exhausts easily accessible too..best one i've heard and seen on the 1k so far are the TWO BROTHERS ones...really kickass.

650 got the likes of scorpion,MIVV,remus,leovince...

for the 650 i'm very sure these 4 brands are available locally.
