Hi,

Anyone got overheating problem with the your cruiser ride? Coz normally bigger bike does produce more heat and when you are stuck at custom, it can be really a real BAD experience.

Turn off the engine in jams at customs and push bike.

Hey, i always do that...It's wise too coz it'll be wasteful for your fuel to just keep the bike idling while waiting for that long queue to move....

Then you start engine, ride up the slope, then off again. There are plenty of bikers who do that. Mine is a 900cc bike. 190kg dry weight. No biggie, but there are bikes like my ex sporty. 883cc but close to 260kg. The ST 11. 1100cc. Dry weight 288kg, wet 317kg. STX. 1300cc. Slightly lighter than the ST 11. Valk 1500cc, RoadKing 1500cc and above. Midnight Star 1900cc. Vulcan 2000cc. Goldwings 1500cc above. All at least 320kg and above.

No problem la. Once you ride it long enough, you'll get used to the weight.

Worst is traffic jam IN Singapore. Cannot do the off engine and push thing. So pray hard your bike dun overheat and explode. hahaha. Well most oil cooled bikes have a build in fan to cool your engine when it hits a certain temperature. You can install a switch for it to turn it on for extra precaution. For the air cooled guys, carry paper fan :p Or as the saying goes, ride faster. :)

I dunno if you can fit a fan into an air cooled bike. But I think I saw some thing about adding an additional water/oil radiator for harleys. Not sure if I saw correctly.

I think it's prob an oil cooler.. But will have a risk of oil leakage..

install extra fan is better with an extra switch to on/off it. quite cheap also. most bike got space to do so

ya and take off your helmet too. sure hot like heat at the custom area.

no worries about pushing the bike though coz you're moving by an inch every step.

last time i was stuck there with my other bike (WR2, dirtbike) it was a worse experience.

my calf muscles were aching as hell. good thing it wasn't that bad a jam.

As claimed, There's a need to drive when we have a Family. But all that is needed to ride is Dream... Many are still dreaming about it.

Not say oil leakage, but doesn't help much.

I believe the problem lies with bigger cc cruiser that oil or air-cooled or simply both instances in a heavy jam. Happened to my Honda Shadow 400 once stuck in a jam on along beach road (Singapore) stretch, the coolant overflows through the overflow pipe due to the rising temperature onto the road surface. On another scenario, my Kawasaki Vulcan 2000 has no problem surviving through the heavy jam at Singapore custom stuck in the queue with those Malaysian bikers heading back home. In both instances, the first scenario was nearly two and half hours long while the second scenario was merely one and half hour long. Thus, smaller cc cruiser can be overheated as well depending on how long and the situation the bike is stuck in the jam but, I would say that cruiser with three cooling features oil, air and liquid cooled is much better in surviving a heavy jam without fear of overheating.
