Haha.. Looks like your lorry top light is longer than 10cm. Good, there will be no blinking lights when you exceed 60km/h.

Indeed, their barrier is very expansive.. seems like you know the price quite well for carpark barriers eh?

I have already boycotted Vivo. Used to go there lots for movies and food.

Now cant be bothered. It's just another shopping center... screw them for charging crazy fees for bike parking.

Most shopping centre carparks know about cars or vans or bikes cheong barriers but they tend to close one eye.

I use to drive van cheong suntec barriers. 4-5 times over 1 month.

According to security, they just reset their counters everyday cos they assume the erp cashcard carpark abit computer screw up.

Cheong once in a while should be fine.

I read the threads on shopping malls refusing entry to motorcycles and then I come to this thread on parking at VivoCity and I want to say something, hope that you all don't get pissed off by what I say.

We, including myself complainn and kpkb, make so much nosie that shopping malls discriminates us for not letting us park our bikes, but look at what you wirte in this thread!

Bear in mind all these are viewed by public, if here in this thread we talk abt how to "chiong" barriers and evade parking fees, how wld the public view us, as motorcycle owners? Cheapskates?

Come on guys, bros and sisters, if we already complain shopping complexes don't allow us park, then now they allow us park, we try to "chiong" barriers, do you think other shoping malls management read this, dare to let us park again? No wonder West Mall stopping stop allowing bikes into their malls!

Lets be very fair here, if the shopping malls do not charge us very high (by very high means higher than cars) (a rule of thumb shd be 1/4 the rates of cars, if cars $1.20/hr, then bike shd be not more than $30 cents/hour), then can we please just keep quiet and park, otherwise they may just remove it altogether in future.

People ask me, "Why ride bike?" I ask them back :"Why drive car?"

Interestingly, it is in fact more costly to park a bike at vivocity after 6pm if you're there for 5hrs or more.

After 6pm

Cars

Mon - Thurs : $2.50 per entry

Fri/Sat/Sun/PH : $3.00 per entry

Bikes

$1.00 for 1st 3hrs

$1.00 per subsequent 1hr

regardless of day of the week.

hence, if one parks a bike at vivocity at 6pm and stays till 11pm (reasonable time to have dinner, catch a show, grab coffee), he/she can look forward to paying $3.00, that's for 5hrs.

If one stays till 11.01pm, that becomes $6.00, which makes parking a bike at vivocity on any given day after 6pm a more costly endeavour than parking a car for a similar amount of time.

Probably the only carpark in Singapore where it costs more to park a bike than a car

Note : Above calculations are for illustrative purposes. Of course, one can choose to park less than 5hrs, or elsewhere. Personally, I park at vivo for the sake of convenience.

My mistake, went to check rates again

Sunday for cars it's $2.50 too

Eve of PH is $3.00.

Smile! Tomorrow will be worse.

I don't thk any businessmen is willing to let bikes park for free, esp where the land at shopping mall is very expensive.

Let's say if there is a space for 500 car lots, how many businessmen will just make 490 car lots and covert the remaining 10 car lots to 40 bike lots, if they don't charge bikes? I mean the car parks are almost full everyday, what is the incentive, from the businessmen point of view, to cater for FREE bikes parking? If bike park for a fee, then it is another matter.

Of course we are talking abt shopping mall, a private establisment, for HDB or URA, then they must provide parking spaces for bikes, again for a nominal fees.

As for the bikes parking fees higher than cars, I feel it is the wrong and couldn't careless attitude of the shopping malls, it shd not be like that, but if it is like that, then we as cstomer haveto deicde how long and when to paark there.

NB: I also want free parking, but just feel unfair to shopping malls and car owners to collect /pay huge parking fees to subsidise bikes parking.

People ask me, "Why ride bike?" I ask them back :"Why drive car?"

I just parked opp at e bus interchange, just used 2 x $0.65 coupons

(Challenging part: Very easy to park if the bike is Honda Wave :) )

Imagine the vivocity carpark fee, 1st 3 hr = $1, sub hr = $1, total: $10 for parking !!!

most of the bike lots in CPs are in void areas where cars are not able to park at all. what with the converting of car lots into bike lots are you talking about?
