Hello to all the Zumo lao chiaos,

I understand the Zumo 550 does not come with headsets. Is there a headset that will allow you to not only take input from the Zumo, but also be able to talk to your pillion? Any good one to recommend? :D

Thank you.

Another qn to Zumo users, can I just use a normal pair of earphones with the Zumo? Does it have a headphone jack or something?

Also, I'm used to riding with earplugs because of windnoise, are there any kind of earphones in the market that has the ability to block out noise like a earplug?

Those bluetooth headsets really expensive ah, I bo lui already, so must make do with the cheapest options first...I found a good review here for anyone interested.

The nüvi series are for cars and not waterproof. What you want is a GPS that's able to withstand vibrations and rough weather. I dont think the nüvi series are built for that. There are a couple of Garmin range of GPS you can use which is very popular among bikers around here and the world. For cheaper range you can try the 60 series, 76 series, eTrex, the latest Colorado. Or the more expensive ones you can try the Streetpilots and Zumo series with touch screen applications.

I had personally used the 76 series, 60 series, eTrex and the Street pilot. I'm still holding on to the 60 series and Street pilot even though had been discontinued. You can go Sim Lim square, check out what you want.

nuvi is good, should consider the wide screen, with suffix "W".

The nuvi 200 is the entry model, going for about $299, and the nuvi200W is about $399.

If you can share how you intend to use it, you can probably get relevant comments.

Hi guys, I'm using the Nuvi 200 on my bike. It charges itself using the usb port from the computer. Can I tap the power from the bike battery or the pilot light wires to charge the gps? i.e. I want to use a usb cable to tap the power from the battery or pilot light wires. I do not want to fix a cigarette lighter socket cos it is too bulky.

So, has anyone tried the above before? What I need to know is which 2 wires in the usb cable are the positive and negative. Thks for any info that you all can give.

Just did some checking on usb cable:

From the info above, am I right to say that the red wire is positive and the black wire is negative/ground? Can anyone confirm?

Yes, the red is +ve, but USB +ve is 5v, your bike +ve is 12v.

you have to relook at the elctrical system in your fazer and tap into those cable that is 5 v one but even after taping into the 5 volt u must put in a 1 a fuse in series to protect the electronics.

alternatively

nuvi shld have a car lighter adapter, to the GPS , the safer aspect is to 'slightly' modify the adaper to power the navi

because the adaper is the part that actually "convert the 12 v to 5 v"

2 or just simple put a ciggy plug across the battery then shaft the 5 v adapter into the ciggy holder then run the output cable to the navi

the advantage to this is u can till use in in a car later.

Oic, so the adapter 'convert the 12v to 5v'. In that case bo pian, where to buy waterproof cigarette lighter plug/socket? Anyone?

no 'water proof' one lah , u only have to customize the what u want loh.

i got 3 kind of socket

1 from m tech, the BMW socket, they also sell the adapter plug.

1 from looi , the honda socket that fits any 12 volt plug

1 from sim lim squre : no brand socket, which can fit all kinds of car plug

ai yah come to BJ tonite u see then u may understand what u want then u tell the electrician loh
