situation is like this...newbie rider goes to find parking at a building he has never been to before...he finds the carpark entrance and sees a signboard with all the parking charges listed but he cannot find anything about bike parking charges...so should the newbie rider assume there are no bike parking in the building and look for parking elsewhere?

Note:ERP parking so there is basically no one around to ask.

if the barrier allows u to squeeze to the side then just squeeze to the side no need pay

if the carpark never cater for bikes...as in no bike lots...squeeze in also no use?

its not about the paying...its that I look at the parking charges...I dunno if there are bike lots inside the carpark or not.

generally for bikers, whether stated pay or not, if able to squeeze in from the side, many will.

how to be really sure if allowed or not, lets say u are the kiasi kind...

u can always press the button at the erp parking machine and talk to operator there.

if u are the chiong 1st see how later type, jus go in and do the below.

1st, look for other bikes. if you dun see bikes at all anywhere, u better head out, unless it is spelt out clearly that bike parking is available and there are bike lots in there.

otherwise, if u're the type who likes to take chances, u can pretty much park anywhere u like, regardless of on the roadside, in a bldg or on the pavement. :cheeky:

the SG flyer is one damn good eg.

I wanted to park, cos ERP car park then i wait at the entrance like a fool. still nvr open. In the end, i tailed a car in.. I pressed the operator buttons i think 8 to 12 times. But still no one talked to me..

in the end just squeeze thru la! Hoopefully they dont clamp my bike lol

There is no replacement for displacement, except for Ah Seng

so if it's erp carpark, n the pole short enough for u to squeeze n stated there bike must pay, will they clamp/fine ur bike?

the big open carpark b4 far east n behind york hotel is what i'm talking about. so far i've parked there n seen bikes squeeze thru without any problems.

Accident can happen anytime, anywhere.

However ask yourself, do you want to fall at 120km/h or 60km/h?

experience this at suntec city carpark just now. barrier seems like can squeeze in but didn't take advantage. slot in cashcard into iu unit and past thru the barrier system. for me better play safe then getting my wheel clamp out of the small amout from the carpark fee.

sg flyer carpark is free entrance, was lucky enuf that the security directed me in and showed me where to park..

suntec city carpark has always been free for bikes coz there's not even 1 bike lots but when u go in can see lots of bike parking all around the carpark, no point paying for parking when theres no bike lots at all to park

outside tower 4 or 5 (cant remember) there's bike lots n it's free. but very limited, end up lots of bike parked at the pavement. tp n cisco cant go in to take summon cos it's under suntec property. so unless suntec wanna do something about it, it's safe to park anywhere nearby there.

u reminded me of a recent biker i saw entering marina using cashcard as his erp dont work. BTW it's free for bikes as there's even marking to enter from the right.

Suntec is free, you can go into the red zone, Carpark F & G, where carefourr shoppers would enter. Then there's this fork that says go straight to level B1 for carefourr. Turn left to B2 carpark/loading unloading bay. Just turn left to go B2, follow the arrows, keep your eyes open, especially the left side as you follow you should be able to see bikes parking together, in proper lots. There's quite some space for bikes. Maybe weekend very packed, I'm not sure la.

BTW I thought it was quite cool huh the suntec security on bicycles 1. Perhaps the only place in SG...

sometimes enter is short pole, but at the exit, its full barrier waiting for you. one good example is jurong point. can squeeze when going in, but they charge by per entry for bike, so when come out, still have to insert cashcard into their machine.

jurong point is a deliberate attempt to make $ from bikes. they want to save $ by replacing only the exit pole. then deliberate left the entrance pole short so that bikers think it's free, but when exit time, u get it. besides the notice is so small, who would notice it. i was there after a few days they implemented that, never again would i go in there again.

Maybe you can park at the open 'unofficial' carpark beside it? I dont know if its still there cause I haven't been there for a long time, the stony stony area, a lot of cars/bikes park there. No lighting at all though.

because suntec too big n it's not feasible to employ more guards to look after every tower. besides it's not a critical place where u need 100% security.
