Q : when i warm up my bike, one of the headers do not get warmed up at all. the 2nd header from the right..

it is only after i ride for a few km, or sometimes need to open vtec then that particular (or all) headers will be hot..

the other time , when i change spark plugs, one of the spark plugs are wet, not water but kinda oily substance..

so could that 'wet' spark plug be the cause of the unwarmed header?.

well it's not that the headers warmth that is important, but, my idiling is nonsense..

i need to rev it like 1 - 2 k to get it warm up, and it's running on 3 spark plugs i suppose since one of the header never gets warm during cold start..

will there be any harm on riding on 3 spark plugs btw?.

does this happen after every spark plug change? and also, how long after the change?

this used to happen on my g4, but its a really old bike. according to my mech, the fuel was soaking my plug, and he told me to ride the bike harder.

it hasn't happened since, i changed my riding style *grin*. a lot more fun now.

i dont know about the harm of riding on three working plugs, but i cant stand the loss of power, and the sluggish feel. also, you could just change that particular plug, its only like 10 bucks?

on a seperate note, hi guys, i just got a vtec2 at 80k mileage.

i'm a sucker for preventive maintenance, and considering the previous owners havent done any sort of major engine servicing, what should i be doing for the bike, where would be a good place, and how much roughly would it cost?

i read up the previous few pages, i saw palmer's post on cam timing, tensioning and valve clearance, and also the guide on servicing intervals.

anyone have an idea if these are crucial if i plan to ride this bike for the long term? (eg. extend COE and ride another 10yrs)

Not the whole electrical system of coz that would take weeks. For instance, you install a horn which is of a higher rating then the current one. You could use a relay and tap the power for the horns from the battery. Make sure there is a fuse between the horn and the battery.

Cool idea man... will do it soon, u know how to do it...!? help me out bro..

Nope you're wrong. I got it from this forums and the shop I always go to is closed for CNY...

So in any case the light on the dashboard will light up before anything serious gets coming right?

Anyway, took some pictures this afternoon. This is what I get after parking the bike for 2 - 3 hours. It looks kinda brownish + blackish + a little greenish if I'm not wrong.

Anyone can advise if this is indeed engine oil? Thanks.

Ok, just got it checked and it is indeed engine oil. Changed a small little circular thing beside the gear shifter and somewhere near the front sprocket. Anyone knows what is it?? Cost me $18 for that small little thing! :sian:

see, I use bike only during weekday when my wife drive to work, so each day clock 16km (to and fro)

to hit 1600km, I need 100 working days

to hit 3200km, I need 200 working days

to hit 4800km, i need 300 working days (that will be more than 1.5years later if you include weekend and PH).

so should I use mileague to gauge or use time to gauge when to change?
