Hi guys, i'm new to owning a bike and got some questions. i would like to DIY changing my headlight and meter light bulb to something that is brighter but i'm not sure what are the regulations/requirements to keep to so that it is still legal. anyone has any idea? i have checked the LTA website it only states that it is illegal if:

1) HID is illegal if it doesn't comes stock

2) wattage of replacement bulb is higher than stock or recommended

LTA regulation

i found that VICOM will check on luminous lux during inspection however i can't find a value to what is the cap.. i would be grateful if someone could enlighten me.

what i have in mind:

1) H4 55/60W 4500k halogen bulb for headlight (don't know what is the maximum luminous lux allowed)

2) T10 blue LED light for meter (coloured light for meter legal?)

hi bros out there encounter a problem today. Ride to work and when abt to ride back after work i start bike yet it cannot start. Gt headlight and meter light but cannot start, press the electric start button but no response (not even hearing and spark plug sound). push the red engine-off switch off and back on the `hiss` nv light up. After that did some 'tapping' on the "electric-start" and finally manage to start. Since the encounter every now and thn i start bike the problem will surface randomly. Riding a Spec 2 FX plate, problem bothering me coz i dun wan get stuck at work place or somewhere far and i cant start bike to ride back home.

The carbon brush in ur starter motor need to be replaced as it's worn. For the time being..if it can't start the next time..just sit on the bike and reserve in second gear and suddenly let go the clutch and hear a "whine" noise..then shift back to neutral and switch on the bike and start as normal.

BEER!...it's cheaper than fuel now! DRINK!..DON'T RIDE!

thanks Ah Pek and mfaisalby for ur feedback. Gt a few extra questions, where is the starter motor located? how much does it cost to replace the carbon brush in the starter motor? ahpek, "reserve in second gear" after i let go clutch and hear the whine sound i must open throttle? or after hearing the whine sound i clutch in shift back neutral the bike will start alr?

No..no need to turn throttle. What we want is the motor armature arm to move so that the carbon brush would have some movement backward up and comes in contact again. What the rest said is true too about the switch. It may be dirty due to rain water washing dirts and dust over the years and accumulated inside the assembly..may try using WD40 to spray in between the gaps (can open up half way oso..just two screws under) to clear off any stubborn dirt that forms an insulation to contact. The starter motor is the cyclindrical unit u c below the carbs and behind the engine block on ur right lying horizontally. Tapping hard on it oso helps beside push starting the bike if it's carbon brush problem. Part is cheap but labor is costly..carbs has to come off and coolant drain.

I got the same problem before, I'm riding spec3. It turns out a carb issue. Have to replace needle and main jets. No more problem after that.
