changing the seat won't have a dramatic impact on seat height right?

seems like some bros here who 1.7m still have to tiptoe.

edit: just to share ... suzuki japan states their drz400sm is 870mm high .. which is only 20mm off the agent drz400sm (890mm) .. that's still .. really really high. anyway to bring it down?

truth is, i'm not looking to go offroad .. i just want a fun commuter. currently riding a very practical and functional naked that while cheap to run, is no fun.

I'm using 15T/38T for almost a yr. Got my 38T stealth sprocket thru supermoto.sg mo last time. Done touring on it. Can constant 130~140, no problem. Pick up still okay and I am not light weight either.

any idea if there's a 38/39T for JT sprocket?

hi bros, can the drz400sm be lowered? i'm vertically challenged (1.65m). i tried the bike at a shop and had to tiptoe on flat ground .. felt like i was going to fall over any time .. which means i'm f**ked the moment upslope/downslope.

i heard one way is to cut the springs, but that will dmg the suspension .. is there any other way? those in the know please share :) thank you!

not to worry bro. i'm only 1.6m. only soften the suspension for comfort. did nothing else to lower it.

and i can barely tiptoe (on the tip of my toes) on BOTH feet.

u'll get used to it soon. its a scrambler after all.

the seat height helps. you could also buy a suspension linkage that lowers the bike, http://www.koubalink.com/ but must buy online.

Sorry guys.. how do you guy know when to change gear.. i suppose DRZ dun have a RPM guage rite?

use speed to gauge. 1st gear pull till 20, 2nd to 40+, 3rd to 70, 4th to 90 then switch to 5th gear, i guess. but confirmed 4th gear needs 85-90 before switching or else the engine lugs with insufficient throttle. this is on stock gearing and sprockets..

i hit 153km/hr last week (but i won't say where :D) that was with my givi box behind and me pulling back on the bars to steady the wobbly steering. wanted to wait awhile longer for it to hit 155 as most ppl did with stock but i was afraid i might lose control of the steering, had to ease off the throttle and coast back to 90+..

damned i need a more stable bike..

The DRZ with an FCR39 that is properly jetted and an aftermarket full system exhaust can hit 173 KMH and is still stable... just make sure that the front tyre is at least a DOT race approved type.

With a motard good handling, the rider will tend to brake later and make change direction faster...the problem is the that the whole weight of the rider and the bike is so high up, it will often suffer fork dive or fishtail when doing e-brakes.

For me, I will also use both brakes, even for E-brake.The key is prgressiveness to applying the front and rear..once you feel the rear sliding, let go of the rear and use only the front. it will take some practice..get used to the nature of the bike first.

in addition to karmatrix's post, are u using stock tires? stock tires are quite slippery IMO.

Do check your tire pressure too. A high tire pressure will cause your tire to skid upon hard braking.
