Hey guys! I'm gonna be getting my RS 125 from the workshop in 2 weeks time! Can't wait to be riding out with you all soon! hehe!

Anyway, just need to know, what is the main difference between the reed (valve) system and the usual one?

Bike History

Aprilia RS125

SYM GTS 200

Honda VFR800 (2003)

Kawasaki Z900 ABS (2017)

Looking forward to you joining us on outings too!

RS125 engines only use reed valves - there isn't any other "usual" kind. Are you talking about aftermarket reed valves and cages like VForce, Boyenson, etc? If that's what you mean: aftermarket reed valves improve engine performance and last longer compared to stock reeds.

:offtopic: Changing topic - People, please be careful on the road, ok? Too many of us have had accidents lately, and just a few hours ago 2 cars collided in front of me on PIE with everyone travelling at 90+ km/h. Almost like a clumsy ballet that would have been funny if it weren't so potentially deadly. It happened while one of the cars was trying to change lanes, and it was sheer luck that no bikes were trying to squeeze between the cars at that instant. Ride safe.

Chin Guan, I really respect you for having the determination and taking the time to work on your bike. I agree you with 100%, and wish I was smarter and less lazy. Mechanical stuff I can handle. Anything electrical I really can't make it :faint:

Yp brother... after reading your post... i was wondering how am I going bring the tires to the other shop to be fixed up? unless u going to take cab or wat kind of effort u going to execute? D effort or the worth justify the price differences by buying from LAB?

You can do what Ah Boy's staff does - wear the tyres around your body and ride to a mechanic. Uncomfortable, slighly dangerous, but possible.

It might not be worth the trouble, true - it's your call. Bottom line is what you're comfortable paying for.

Hey guys, just want you to know that if any of you guys want to go rounding next time, please remember to wear a full face,a pair of gloves & a jacket for your own protection and keep a safe distance from the rider infront of you, especially when tackling corners. I've learnt it the hard way recently when riding with a group of friends and i made the mistake of following too closely behind assuming nothing would happen to the guy infront of you.For all you know, the next minute something happens and you do not even have the time to react to avoid hitting your friend.

It's not a sight you wish to see to watch your friend going into shock and passing out.

Anyway, sh*t happens! and you learn from your mistakes.

PS: if your tires are worn out, please change them.it makes a difference. Ride smart yall!

Always be prepared.

FF, jacket, gloves. are a must if you really want to play around when you're going on rounding trips. if your tires are worn, dont play on them. get them changed asap. fresh tires feel great anyway.

anyway glad no one is seriously hurt huh.

oh yeah.. a lil off topic but ben can you sms me (tell me who you are in the sms)? my phone lcd cracked. i cant see the memory from my phone..

cheng_xi07> It all depends on whether you want to keep riding an RS125 or not. If you know that your bike is/was in good mechanical condition (accident aside) then I would consider either trying to repair the bike or buying another cheap RS125 that is cosmetically ok and transplanting some of the parts from one bike to the other and then selling off the remaining ok bits as scrap. If you simply scrap your bike and buy another you might find that the "new" bikes needs work/parts which you could have sourced from your crashed bike. I'd rather keep the existing bike until I've sorted out my new ride and then decide what to do with the remaining parts.

Ben,

Pls change your MK3 exhaust to an Arrow soon so the next time I'm dragged and pinned under your bike it wont be so heavy... hur hur hur

I'm ok now. Still cant move my legs but i'm alive and I'll be back with a vengeance to kick everyone's asses once I can walk again!

Thanks to Filbert, who lifted the bike off my twisted back, and Galen who kept me from passing out by slapping me oh-so-many times (he's probably enjoying it), and Benjamin for calling for help.

Filbert,

My bike number (FR393A) came out in 4D, 3930... How come never buy?!?

Gale,

Dont get too used to slapping me cause that will be the last time, dammit.

Benjamin,

Get an Arrow. hahaha

Believe nothing you hear; and only half of what you see.

Do or do not; there is no 'try'.
