You can get a new one for ~$10k.

But if you getting a used one, Y2K ones are going for ~$2k.

Add $500 for reconditioning work and you're good to go.

Your $2.5k can pay for your whole bike. No need for installments.

Looking for another gadget.

a 2 way paging alarm remote starter for bikes.

Used to have a Boomerang one for the car.

Very hand device, lets you know if anyone has touched your car from up to a distance of about nearly 100m in built up areas.

The LCD on the handheld device shows if doors have been forced open, interior temp and if anyone has leaned or farted near your car.

Looking for something like this for the bike as the remotoe starter will be great for starting the bike in the mornings without actually having to go to the bike physically, put the key in and start it.

You can start the bike 5mins before setting off and when you get there, ure ready to go.

Of course there are security measures, such as if gear is engaged without the key, the engine cuts off.

The alarm also works for cooling off, like a turbo timer.

The bike will shut off at your prescribed time frame.

Anyone knows of such a device for bikes?

Been doing a lot of research when I got my bike last yr....

Our bikes' electricals are shoddy and problematic they are already. Adding alarms may screw it up further.

Many reviews have reflected that even on bikes with no electrical problems before installation, they tend to get a little whacked after an alarm has been put in.

Even worse, those that features remote starters can even blow your fuses, or burn out your CDI.

I wanted to get a remote starter very badly, but in the end decided not to. Not worth the risk.

If you guys do get an alarm, try to mass order so you can get them cheaper. The best one i've seen so far is sold by Vector One.

Believe nothing you hear; and only half of what you see.

Do or do not; there is no 'try'.

shyam> I've taken my RS125 to the track. Sadly I killed the engine by over-revving it for 50 mins non-stop. =p

It's currently being repaired and as soon as it's ready I'll be hitting the track once again. =) hope that more of the other RS riders will join me.

Anyway, the bike engine should be reliable, even for longer distances if you maintain it properly, use good 2T and most importantly do not go too far over the redline too often.

What are the reasons for blowing fuses? Electrical overload?

Has anyone actually installed one?

Brant makes excellant 7 pt immobilisers but I wonder if they do any for bikes.

I think the problem is locating a competent auto electrician to do the installation.

Does Vector one sell remote starters?

Im willing to give it a shot, great feature for early morning warm ups...........

Walk up to your bike and ure ready to ride...........

Ive been using Putoline Syn 2T, has anyone tried it?

Have not tried anything else so far.

Any recommendations from you guys?

I noticed the RS doesnt use much 2T, prob around 1L for about 1800km

Is this normal?

hello, I'm the new owner of the Shell Advance design RS250 in the forum.

But I don't really like the design, although some of you may like it. Want to respray but kinda wasted as the paint is still in very good condition (and so is the fairing, no scratches at all).

Thus any RS250 rider wanna exchange with me? pic as below:

http://www.singaporebikes.com/forum/index....post&id=1839252

Also, the manual at http://www.serviceaprilia.com do not have 1997 model english version. Anybody has that?

Finally, what other after market rear shocks are there for RS250? WP? Ohlins? Bitubo? Where to find WP? My friend is highly recommending his bitubo, which is pretty ex...

Tks!

"not meant for long distance"

--> this bike rs125 was built for the tracks but soften for the road. ive travelled to kuala lumpur and back at speed range 120-160kmh with another rs125. proved sceptics totally wrong on endurance capabities of this bike which i bought brand new in yr 2000. KL trip in 2004. the other rs125 was the newer 2003 model.

"do any of aprilia riders here nvr race b4"

-->trackdays can ? both rs125 and rs250 on track with photos to prove. or maybe u need to join us for our track outings if u didnt read the heated posts on track sessions. official races, well so far not yet. u wana be the first? u have all our support definitely.

"daily ride purpose"

--> definitely good even for daily trips to school and work. no bikes gives u THE RACERS EDGE unlike APRILIAs

"regrets if any ?"

--> NONE. Simply the best all rounder for a small cc 2-wheeler.

The bitubo my friend is selling has quite a lot of settings too...not sure exactly what. But at $1.3K, it's not gonna be an easy decision. Penske is more ex I believe.

well...I don't really like the design! Pls anybody wanna change? Don't mind if yours a bit scratched cos I'm using for track anyway. You can see the quality of the paintwork. Exchange rims I also don't mind...

I really got nothing to say on this. See you at the tracks......

Regarding suspensions with hi/lo speed compression settings....

U really gotta know how to adjust them. And it's gonna be a b1tch to set. And if you get it wrong, your ride is gonna suck harder than Britney Spears giving a blowjob. :sian:

Even a suspension specialist said this to me. Sometimes, just the basic settings will suffice for normal road use and the occasional track day.

Hi snowparang,

Congrats on your new purchase.

Glad to see another potential kaki to go track with.

If there is not much wrong with your rear shock you could consider having it rebuilt by Bikelab (1122 Serangoon Rd). I had mine done (including front suspension) for less than $500.

My fairing is pretty scratched up on one side so you wouldn't want mine. But if you are thinking of selling your fairing, do let me know.

Axxis, how about a Sunday morning trip?

Anyone else interested to come along?
