yo paithorn, wanna consider a BMW F650GS... someone selling at around 13.5k :D sounds reasonable?

Wha! The FC for the 650 so good?

27~29km/h (local riding 100km/h or less), 22~26km/h (touring between 120km/h ~ 150km/h)

Incredible.. even better than our SW sia.

Fuel consumption per 100 km (62 mls.)

at constant 120 km/h (75 mph) . . .4.3 l

Riding it hard and fast has an effect too, I generally cruise at 85-95 on the freeway (hey, out here there's almost no traffic so don't get on my case!) going that fast in the summertime the mileage is about 65. If you take it nice and easy at about 50 you can match my best mileage for a tank of gas at 83 miles per gallon! Just commuting to and from going fairly slow in the summer you get about 75-80 it's absolutely insane.

I don't think it is a good price. I sold my R1150R before the SW600 for only $18000.

Also the Boxer engine is the trade mark of BMW Motorrads. I can't see myself getting other types such as the F or K series.

Yes, I know. Felix change to Hagon. But no more as he sell all away. Don,t think he will be going there to buy again.

I also know you got contact for Bitubo, but think it will be to ex for me. :sian:

hi guys can i put small led at e side of my bike?

any one know of any formal regulation?

cos everyone seems to hold a diff view

you can put any amount of led lights you desire (see my avatar) but just standby for summons if suay suay kenna stopped for unauthorised mods. i've also heard of stories where biker got stopped with led lights on but police only check for road tax & drink driving nia, turn blind eye to the leds.

technically, any light that is not part of the standard design or fitted by the "distributing agent" as part of the optional sale accessories is considered illegal. so if you want blink blink, take the risk lor

hey people.. i am trying to decide between a s4 spec 3/revo and x8 400cc and sliverwing.

can briefly tell me whats the maintenance like for silverwing?

I only know that timing belt and EO have to change at a fixed mileage. Is there a need to wash carb?

What are the other things that required?

Is the parts for a silverwing expensive?

As i am quite big in size, i am worried about the supsension which seems quite fragile.

How much will a pair of shock cost?

Whats the max speed a silverwing can cruise comfortably?

Why did your decided to ride a silverwing than any other 400cc scooter?

Thanks :)

Why did your decided to ride a silverwing than any other 400cc scooter?

this one is easy to answer... IMHO, SW is the best 400cc scooter you can find in town :thumb:

don't have to take my words as gospel truth coz you should go see n molest the scoots yourself, talk to the scoot mechanics and if possible, try it out on your friend's bikes (if they're willing) ;) while some will prefer better FC, its the silky inline twin engine for me.

read this Majesty vs Silverwing Discussion

although thread title is Maj vs. SW, other scoots like the X8 was also mentioned

this is my post

apart from finding out the technical specifications and others' recommendations, it is most important to see the actual bike for yourself. it may be a good bike, but as long as you don't like the styling or features/design or even "branding", you won't feel shiok riding it. some people say its like looking for a partner... nice girl/guy but if don't feel good, then matching is not going to last. lucky thing divorcing a bike costs a lot less, emotionally and financially

i looked at quite a few maxis (SWing, burgman 400/650 Exec, majesty 250/400, MP3, X8) before settling for a SWing 400, its not the best in every aspects but summing up the pluses, minuses and feel factor, decided on it. these are some things i considered (not in order of priority though):

. * price (decided not to spend that much despite liking it a hell lot, then lowered budget for 400cc)

. * styling (really liked what burg-X has, majesty/SW looks very similar, preferred SW coz can fix top box without using rack)

. * engine (preferred SW's parallel twin over single cylinder)

. * suspension (preferred burgman's link-type rear)

. * storage space (MP3's storage is most attractive)

. * brand (honda has better resale value and reputation for engine reliability)

. * spare parts (friends & mechanics all tell me italian parts very expensive)

. * stablity (MP3's 3 wheels wow, but was told it'll cost more to maintain)

. * windshield (size of burgman, SW, majesty good enough)

. * weight (SW's 228kg is heaviest, more stable but consumes more petrol)

adding up, i felt most comfortable buying the honda silverwing 400, so that was it... the rest is history

help this can give you an idea of how i choose bikes :p

good luck to your bike hunt :goodluck:

S4 & scoots are totally different rides; you'll have to ask yourself what you want... speed? pickup? handling/cornering? comfort? utility? image?

dun expect the scoots to take off or cup a corner like the S4. on the other hand, dun expect the S4 to give the same type of utility storage like the 2 scoots do :D

maintenance for SW is as easy as ABC... and not expensive (IMO)

usual stuff is eo & oil filter change around 5~8k kms, change 2x spark plugs (5~20k kms depends on what u use), air filter & rollers about 18k kms, belt & sliders about 24~30+kms depending on how you looooooot your bike... plus any other repairs only when things breakdown

wash carb? no need lah... i'll consider only much much later

SW's front suspension is a bit soft (rears ok for me), but can change to hyperpro ($220 from motoworld) like some of us did, helps a lot :thumb:

max speed ~170kph n depending on many variables; but why go so fast? different story for touring :p

comfortable cruising speed? only you know... i cruise comfortably to work abt 90+kph (5+k rpm) even when on empty expressways, up towards thailand abt 130kph, back from thailand 120~140kph... all very comfortable coz very stable n got windshield :thumb:

if only got jel for the seat :lovestruck:

s4 spec 3/revo and x8 400cc and sliverwing, i dont tink any of these bike got carb to wash..most are fuel inject. Expect spec 3 / x8 not sure..

2 roads diverged into a wood, and I-I took the road less traveled and that makes all the difference!
