brand new arh? best price kinda depends on rider's age... COE is sama sama, machine price and other costs moreless the same, difference is likely the insurance quoted and freebies (if given).

suggest you give Boon Siew a call for their OTR price (with 1st party insurance) based on your age; last quote known was $18+k for a HOM, should be $18++k for younger chaps.

then use BS's quote as reference when bargaining with bike shops; common ones are M1, Mah, Looi's, ASPhoon, Bike Production, etc.

I am thinking of paying full cash. I know if pay full cash, some bike shops will add in "extra fee" to offset the loss of interest...

i remember someone mention if pay full cash, bike production is better in price...

you have to compare apple to apple... i.e. full OTR "no loan" price factored with...

* comprehensive (1st party) insurance

Boon Siew gives comprehensive insurance. many shops' OTR price don't give comprehensive insurance. including bike production's OTR price gives only 3rd party, ah shui will ask you to top up if you want comprehensive.

if top up amount is way higher than difference in premiums/quotes directly from insurance companies, can consider do the upgrade yourself after buying bike; if difference is not much, can consider save the hassle and let them earn the little extra.

* IU fitted

most shops' OTR price include the IU fitted. bike production's OTR price don't include IU, they charge separately cos they say bike with no IU is still street legal, technically not wrong (law didn't say all bikes must have IU) but very inconvenient.

another thing, remember to tell the shop you're buying the SW where you want the IU fitted, or they will suka suka drill holes on your nice tupperware to mount it.

* no-loan surcharge

Boon Siew don't practice this but many shops charge this, can be as low as $500 and as high as >$1k. suggest compute interest payable under min. loan and min. period scenario and see if worth paying that stupid surcharge.

* freebies?

some shops entice buyers with freebies, such as helmets, raincoats, top box, etc. all cheap ones but they still cost $$. if you're not going to use them (chances are you'll invest in better ones), take them out of the comparison formula.

* invoice, GST payable?

remember to ask for the official GST invoice if shop is charging you GST; they MUST be GST registered and their GST registration nos. must be clearly printed on the invoice; a legal requirement, not a request.

another thing is, ask them to list down the GST taxable items and non-GST taxable items on the invoice cos some big ticket items are not GST taxable.

ARF, COE, RF and Road Tax are charges imposed by Land Transport Authority (LTA) on vehicle buyers. These charges do not attract GST as they do not relate to the provision of goods and services.

if buy a used bike, shops can't charge full 7% GST on the used bike's sale price. 2 schemes are available, Gross Margin Scheme and Discounted Sale Price Scheme (popular as it is much simpler, GST is charged on 50% of the selling price).

Wanna respray to KTM orange or matt silver???

My previous tmax the owner do a full wrap, cost almost the same as respray and is a bitXX to remove. I remove 2 small panels, took me an hour.

Actually CF is harder to do due to longer process but can mend hairline cracks and strengthen parts due to resin layer. Not talking about sticker wrap but real carbon fibres.

I toured around Sin Min area last Sat. Many spray paint shops.

Perhaps If can try dismantle the fairing urself and send it to car painting shops for respray? As I believe they will offer a cheaper price compare to bike shops...
