Looked very nice, honda integra NC700, wonder can put onto SW?? I think many Honda bikes uses same 240mm rear rotor.E.g CB400,SW400

Won't be able to see much if put on SW rear, so don't bother unless it improves braking.

New clutch pad is 3mm thick; service limit is 1mm. Mine still have 2mm+ at 29kkm. So very lasting.

BTW will rollers wear off??? It seem like I got lousy pick up...

Yes, rollers will wear but usu you get better pickup but lower top speed as they wear. This is because there is less weight and outer diameter to push the variator plate out, so bike stays in lower gear more.

Wear is measured by outer diameter of roller and "roundness" of roller. Take note no grease or lube should be applied to rollers or housing. Any grease may get on belt and cause belt slip. But grease should be applied to inner side of the big metal roller "this is called the BOSS in manual" holding the plates and the threads of the 17mm screw securing the plates.

Yogi and me went Bukit Indah shopping.

Didn"t see confusehaha. Probably lost somewhere in JB.

Made a short stop at Machap Shell. Dozing off... so go washy face.

But really, the Ron 95 sux for high speed.

I was struggling with 130km/h from Tangkak after the top up. Slow response, less torque and more vibration.

the issue of using sliding rollers have been discussed many times, some users feedback that they experienced premature wear on the variator ramps.

TH's reply was to replace multivar regularly.

do a search n you'll find, ask ah choong also can, unless he changed his mind about that product

Can only tell whether that is true or not in 30kkm or 3 years time :cheeky:

As with all parts that wear and tear, a lot depends on the maintenance regime. But fact that we are not the 1st party in such reports, we won't know how the bile has been maintained or use. Eg, car's ATF recommended change is 40kkm or 2 years, whichever is earlier. So supposedly someone runs 80kkm before change and after that finds that the gearbox is noisy cos the gears have worn. All the while before change, it's fine cos the ATF has thickened to "lessen the gear gap". Is that a product issue or user fault?

So far, the few SW owners we know maintain their bikes pretty well, so such issues may not plague us :thumb:

The 2nd reason I can think of is improper installation. You've serviced your SW transmission many times. Have you seen the mechanic putting grease on the inside of the boss? I've not. Have you seen mechanic putting grease on the rollers? I have. Have you seen mechanic tightening the nut to 103NM torque on the nut? I've not. I would think these are not intentional but simply due to lack of official information at hand.

IMO, the main cause of variator wear is belt slip. When belt slips, it generates excess heat and the friction wears the variator. Rollers only push the variator on the other side, so logically, how can it wear the variator? But I may be wrong; just applying logical thinking.

Of course TH asks customers to replace multivar when it wears as it contributes to their revenue. What else can they recommend.

Do you use petrol to clean the transmission? Yes, as it's readily available. But do you know it's corrosive? I stupidly did that sometime back and the skin on the hands was flaking for a few days. Think of the harm it does on those bearing seals, rollers, shaft, etc. Now I use methylated spirit. Cost the same as petrol but you need to buy it before servicing.

Ignore the Tsingtao label :cheeky:

Ya lor, smooth soft skin became old man's skin. No issue with spirit.

Yup.

So far, final drive oil has been Motul 7100 10W-40 changed every 10kkm due to leftovers from previous servicing. Oil looks like brand new after drained out for the last 2 changes. The Carlube 5W-40 is API SN; even better than Mobil, Shell or Castol at API SM. I will use them on the final drive the next time.
