I use a single cam cb014 from Motoworld mounted permanently to the bike. Not a HD model but more for me to use for insurance purposes. Newer dual cam is cb040. To mount / unmount from bike every time to ride is really troublesome.

A pic would be great on where you mount it on your scooter. I am thinking of where to mount on the scooter before I buy it.

Yes, just turn on ignition and it will auto record. Less than 300 but I install myself. Dual-cam less than 500 with install.

Honda recently launched a NC700x look alike class 2A bike, called 400x (CB400x in some countries); appeared in Mar 2013 Osaka Motorshow. unlike the NC700, it comes with only 6 speed gears, no DCT.

the regular batt we use are the YTZ12S or YTZ14S belongs to the "lead acid accumulator" family. they are factory activated, maintenance free, sealed from case to cover to prevent leakages, use absorbed glass mat (AGM) technology to prevent water loss.

this one is a lithium ion battery that is lighter (only 1.1kg vs 3.7kg/2.93.9kg of YTZ12S/14S), supposed to have longer charge life, and most importantly, even more maintenance free becos of very low discharge/loss. some manufacturers also claim that lithium ion batteries achieves high % of recharged within minutes, much faster than accumulator type. such batteries are especially good bikes that runs once in a while, good for people with multiple transports.

price wise, lithium batts are more expensive. this one will cost me $198 compared to $130+ for the YTZ14S.

So what is the expected life span, our regular batt is about 1 to 1.5 years. If it is say 2.5 years, I would be keen to as it is money well spent even if it is more expensive

how long it will last? how reliable? how good? how...

all these i also dunno cos this is my first time trying lithium ion batt :p

happen to come across Skyrich's lithium batteries while browsing China's online portals for goodies (taobao.com) so thought why not give it a try; i personally prefer properly packed batts over those shrink wrapped ones :p

Only thing is I don't quite trust that shop

don't know anything about WY so no trust to talk about.

i corresponded directly with Skyrich (manufacturer in China) and also tried to buy from China's online sellers, but no joy.

the US online reseller's price for the HJTZ14S is not worth the hassle; batt alone costs US$159.60 (>S$204 @1.28) before shipping costs.

so when Skyrich's sales referred me to WY (their "exclusive reseller" in Singapore) and price is within budget at S$198, i just buy lo

it's more like "trust" the batt than trust the shop kind of thingy... hahahaha

best scenario is don't need to revisit WY at all, until maybe few years later to replace the batt.

I just found out that silverwing uses parallel twin engine compared to single cyclinder engine for most maxi scooter

but i am curious why it did not have the same fuel efficiency for most parallel twin engines

especially the newer parallel twin engines

Posted

the bike itself, with oil/fuel, top box and regular barang barang already weighs around ¼ metric ton.

FC of SW FJS/SWT ranges between 21~25km/litre, depending age of bike, loading and of course, rider's wrist power... it is not known for excellent FC or being zippy, but for excellent comfort and reliability :)

Not zippy? Hmm.....

FC in SG is between 23-25km/l as compared with ave 21km/l for T-max.

Parallel Twin = sounds like a street bike... not a scooter...

I am getting about 20km/l.....maybe heavy wrist (2 trip single and 2 trip double per day) or does having ABS eat a little more petrol?:what:
