Hi all, i just changed to spark. What do i need to lookout for and what do i have to service regularly and where will be good? I used to ride x1 but now spark got oil filter etc. If i can get a breakdown of the service prices, that will be awesome!

 

change your oil and oil filter regular and you are good to go. for oil, the closer to scientific evidence i read of is a guy claim he did a series of UOA for his spark at 5,000km with oil like Motul 300V and castrol power 1 racing oil. the UOA show the oil is still good to go further for another 1,000km or more according to him. i have not read the actual UOA myself. oil filter change every second time you change your oil. i use cheap $7 dino oil so i change it every 2,000km and it is working just fine for me.

 

other then that, change your air filter and spark plug. everyone have different change interval. personally i change every 10,00km and it seem to be doing just fine on that inteval. i also change my coolant every year and brake fluid, fork oil every 2years. that about it. as for price, i really not too sure as mostly DIY. do look out for tyres and brake pad wear.

 

this bike really does not need that much TLC. shower it with abit of love and it will serve you faithfully.

UOA = Used Oil Analysis. the used oil is being collected during oil change. sent it to a lab where they will perform a series of test to determine if the oil is still usable and the amount and type of metal particles in the oil which will give clue to the engine condition and wear rate.

i doubt you can find this service in singapore easily. in the past, Mxtradings use to provide this service based on schaeffer lab. the price shoot up and if i am not wrong, they are no longer doing it. you might want to check with them. the last time i went down to Mxtradings, i did see a few specimen bottles there.

 

i know some local guys sent their sample to Blackstone lab in the states.
