Jus a passing tot ........ have you seen those "Made in Thailand" cars in SG or TH. I somehow feel those selling in Thailand have much better options than those sold in SG ( due to taxation )

I saw the Kia Cerato Forte 1.6 at Ubi showroom.Powerpacked features.17" rims.Spacey interior and bootspace. But in the end i still bought the 2009 Honda City (Thailand made?).Why?Because its a Honda.Reputation makes a difference in my point of view.Don't flame me though.

From the price and features listed, the 2.0SX is the most value for money.

This is one of the cars that really attracted my attention, a very good option for OPC cars.

imagine a 2L car costing less than 50K after OPC rebate, with reasonable power output.

The interior is simple yet nice. But the steering wheel can be better. Now the Korean is catching up on the Japanese. I find their quality is on par or even better than Thai assembled Jap car. However market value makes the Korea car depreciate faster than their Japan counterpart. I would grab a almost used 2nd hand Korea car if I had a choice.

That is very true...

09 Altis in Thailand has OE rear view camera and tyre pressure monitoring system options. HERE ... FORGET it -_-...

Korean technology is already on par if not surpassing Japs...

Even comparing living standard is their own respective Capital ( Tokyo vs Seoul) The latter has avg of 1-2$ more for per lunch as compared to Tokyo...

Couple of years back. Korea was the 1st one started 7MP camera phone jus weeks b4 Jap came out. And our little red spot was jus having a big hoohaa over 3MP camera phone :sian:

Kia has improved LEAPS over the previous models of car they had. We shall see what lies ahead from land of Kimchi Vs Sushi :thumb:

Options increase the value of the OMV, By keeping the OMV down, car distributors can keep the price down yet maintain their margin.

Take a trip to the West Coast Pier, there is a Toyota assembly centre just next to it. These cars land in Singapore in almost bare-bone condition and every other parts are retrofitted locally. The clever part is that it is still considered within the port, so Borneo Motors need not even pay any tax yet until it is sold.

Now you know why Toyota cars have such low OMV.

See how much we been ripped off, first by the government we democratically elected, then by the enterprising car distributors.

The quality of the car has little to do with the country assembling it. Tell me which Korea car has better built quality than the Honda CRV ? Honda CRV is assembled in Thailand.

There was talk that BMW is considering building an assembly plant in Thailand as they want to shift some right-hand drive vehicle production from South Africa. As long as the quality checks are in place, the end product will be consistent.

Esthetically, the korean cars have improved by leaps and bounds however mechanically they are still very much behind the Japs.

from the papers....

i see that it got a lot of advance features ...look also nice..

but think of resale value/body value/engine reliablity/....i got myself a Honda again

Its more of features vs durability. So many features but after awhile, here spoil there need repairs... real headache sia. Maybe similar to nowadays handphones are packed with features but all brands are opening up their own service centres already. Very easy to understand the underlying reasons.

Thats why korean cars are still trying to convince ppl that they're reliable. Time will tell... Hyundai is still ok doing fine, KIA (though under Hyundai) is still trying hard perhaps...

Looks quite nice for the relatively cheap price. I think it is better than those made in thailand cars. :thumb:

Are you getting one? Heng you never buy the Avante.. This wan OMV $3k more if you compare the 1.6M to 1.6M.. 3Hp more also even tho same engine.. But the auto model a bit noisier if compare to Avante.. looks wise this wan win hands down..

Whatever power pack package they offering, better to take it as a pinch of salt.

In early 2004, spectra 03 was facing out and came in cerato 04 then. At showroom, it give powerful package like sport rim, dbl din audio, fog light and many other goodies. Test drive also not bad (thats why my dad was hooked then).

When it came to shore, i think too much overwhelming selling of same model - our cerato was delayed for almost 3 months from our promised date. Plenty of reasons eg. cannot get COE, too many bids, sports rim, spoiler, fog light not enough stock etc etc.

After cerato 07, came forte 09 and also overwhelming response. So be mentally prepared bro who book forte.

Another certain thing - sgcarmart spec/magazine spec is not 100% true.

i'm tempted to get this car too.. with good review and much lower car price compared to Jap car..

why i chose Korean car? well, since Won drops like 25%, it's good time "pick" Korean products than Jap car (yen is skyrocketting)

Korean cars had dropped about 25% since.. (not to mention COE also cheaper)

resale value not a concern when u are not selling it, right?

btw, anyone know if i got an OPC for this car, how much i need to pay?

(plan to upgrade to normal plate only next yr or what due to economy downturn)

Agreed hands down with gentoro.

Kia have been splurging heavily for the launch of the new Cerato Forte, attempting to create a unique differentiation from what users perceive from a korean car.

At first sight, it projected a very aggressive, trendy presence to me.

I was so attracted to it the and was tempted to trade my Honda Fit 1.5 for it.

The 2.0 version is reasonably tagged at 52k consider variety of the feature and the a mixture feel of continental + Japanese car to me.

Even thou the koreans technology are pacing up, it will still be a long way for them to overtake the Japanese considered the branding, reliability, and reputation the Japanese has painstakingly build for themselves.

Its still a mystery if the new cerato will be a flop or success, only time will speaks.

Therefore after much consideration, I think I'll hold on the plan for now and perhaps wait for further reviews for it.

Just my humble input.

Sales figures for the new Cerato Forte are already all the way through the roof! Looks like Kia will have a very strong year in Singapore this year.

He who hesitates is lost!

I saw quite a few cerato forte on the road already....from far it looks like a german car...until u come closer then see the kia badge... haa haa.
