Hi Ah nick,

Well just as what SG said, there is one FW5091 silver diversion at New Southern Motors selling at $14500. If you are willing to pay for it, that is the only one so far that is up for sale. Its about a year++ with a milage of over 10k+++ (if i can remember correctly)

Condition of the bike to me, is not very good, but u can go down and take a look at it and decide for yourself?

:goodluck:

Cheers

Ah Nick,

As you said you are more interested in a bike with a shaft driven and side panniers..!

In that case you should go for Honda-shadow 750 "05" model it has a shaft drive and as for the side panniers you can add on the givi wing racks ..

Others are BMw.. or you can get a 2nd hand ST11..by length and width almost same as diversion only the weight make the difference if you can handle it! that can be a bike for you..still can find around at some bike shops..

Hi Bro Sun,welcome to the club!

The skidmarx windscreen is only available at BikeTech21 (along Dunlop Street), from what i know.

But this shop is well-known for its delays. I've just cancelled my order for the front mud-guard ext from them cos been waiting and waiting since last march.

Well if you have other choices of extended windscreen,go for it.

Swift juz ordered Ermax from Motoworld.

Cc : Swift - got your ermax windscreen?

Basically to me, shaft driven bikes need not be checked that throughly on the engine side. Its more on checking the outlook of the bike and condition of the paint, tyres, whether engine guards + rear cargo rack installed. Cos these things are somewhat the most expensive and hence the deciding factors to gauge the price of the bike.

ST11 was also one of my considerations previously but somehow i feel that the engine too quiet..too smooth..not 'fierce' enuff..came across a divvy...test-rode it and decided wo much considerations. Another plus pt is that divvy is rare on the road other the TP. Haha...

The condition of the paint is not very good..ex-owner never polish and there're some evidence of front brake fluid leakage on the cowling. Ask southerns to respray the cowling, they said cannot! Dun come wif engine guards and rear cargo rack also.

Have something to ask:

Whenever I start the bike (be it morn start or normal afternoon start), the engine can't hold, it'll just die off. I've to hold the throttle to rev above 1k rpm less than 2k rpm, warm up the engine for a while, then the engine can hold.

Initially I thought maybe the idling too low when I get the bike (abt 500 rpm). I tried to rise the idling to 1k rpm. But only when the bike is warmed up, then the needle will stay around 1k. If not, it'll be below 1k, then slowly died off.

Is this nomal? What is wrong?

Btw, I can't use the choke. It seems to be stuck. I can't pull it down & up.

Casper,

Tks for the infor for the windshield. I pm swift regarding ermax but he didn't get back to me. What was the price of skidmarx?

Skidmarx is around S$140 - S$160, depending on Euro.

Swift just installed his stainless steel top rack at SK for S$160, if I'm not wrong.

Hi Sun,

How's diversion life!...about the choke cable it is a common problem not only to this bike almost most of the bikes have this..! Even some manufacturers like honda- (S4v3)has swift it nearer to the carburettor -to prevent the choke-cable to be jam..Too long never use cable jams partially contributes to the cable length and under utillizing it.

All my previous bikes I did not use/pull the choke at all...Just start the bike and hold on to the throttle for the most 15sec's thats all, don't rev it high- just maintain the rev between 1000~1500rpm! after that-once engine warm up it will maintain the rev by itself.

For big bikes not neccessary to use/pull choke they warm up faster...if compared to smaller bikes e.g 125~200cc. Sometimes I even think of removing my bikes choke-cable...as our country is warm enough to start without a choke.

Choke its purpose for those cold climate countries they need richer fuel (or lean) to start the bike.

Now most of the latest (EFI) bikes comes with the auto-choke...so whether you like it or not..1st few seconds it will hit 2000+ rpm -which I think it is bad for the engine as the engine oil is still at the oil sump(bottom) haven't reach to all the moving parts yet- it takes a few seconds for the engine oil to move up and around to (lubricate) all moving parts.. During starting the bike/car it is the only serious of wear and tear takes place. (it is another topic about engine oil)

St11 also have the same problem- I did not use the choke, like it will be- a habit!!.. I start the bike and hold on to the throttle for couple of seconds.

To improve the timing you can change the engine oil, spark plugs and air filter. About Carburettor synchronising(balancing)- I doubt it -that the (owner)old man ride's so fast. It is always best not to disturb the carburettors unless it disturb you.

It is best for you to replace all the fluids in your bike-especially those bought over from the 2nd hand's- front & rear brake fluids and shaft oil- others e.g like engine oil which already said. So you can keep a record or track of the changes. whether the first owner change or not. It dosen't matter...! what I'm saying is playing on the save side Bro!

Hi fooz,

If there any XJ9s' we seen at any shops or know any of the owner is letting go we will put it on the thread...

About St11 the panniers are not fixed and big enough to swallow a full-face helmet and removing it is a piece of cake and it has a small drop cover that covers the gap at the fairing gap, and it looks okay to ride without the side panniers.

If you compare it to the latest Stx13- yes! it will put off anybody. Even the Stx owner would not dare to ride it without the side panniers! I don't know what- Honda(design team) is thinking off..!

I always use choke to start my bike during d first ride of d day, it is normal for carburation engine even in S'pore. These r procedures i usually do :

1) pull d choke down 3/4

2) press d starter & at d same time open d throttle a little

3) engine will roar during d first or second start

4) once d engine alive close d throttle

5) push back d choke to half, while doing so listen to d engine

6) after warm up for at least 2 minutes, close back d choke

7) enjoy d ride

Hi SG,

Gd, the bike so far so gd except that i still have to lean forward instead of upright. Too used to upright position. I'll see what JLeo added & the cost to raise the handle bar.

Tks for the advise. I'll bring the bike to the shop to check on the choke. I'll also do a full servicing + all the oil changes that u advised.

Btw, how much did Seng Kwang charge u with the topbox rack? I was quoted $180 as the person there mentioned it's very difficult to do something like urs.....lower type of rack. Is it too expensive after seeing the amount Swift paid for his toprack? How come so much different? Is the topbox rack of Swift the same as yours?

Hi Sun,

No chance for me to see swift's rack I reckon it should be slightly higher then mind and lower then those who made it earlier..

You can always call on or ask swift when he is free, to come over or meet there at SK, together maybe bargain for a good deal -If I'm not wrong swift has the lowest quote so far and at the same time you can check his rack out. Mind was quoted about $180/- You have seen my bikes' rack already.

Nothing is difficult for them SK, they can do anything!! it is matter of $$$!

You can add on the handle bar raiser like jleo, kevin and oxygen or check-out with the workshop how much will it cost to change to a slightly higher handle bar -plus if there, is a need to replace any cables or not..! Why don't you ask hong leong! then compare the price!!with other shops- so you have more options:-

This 26th saturday there is a Diversion meeting talking about the on-coming trips for Fraser hill-19th and 20th of March.

Hi fooz,

Whether your question is ridiculous or not we try to answer the best we can..! To make you feel better and confidence about the bike.

Question no:1, those perenial fuel pump problem none local owners have or come across yet for the XJ9s but this problem only has happened to XJ6 older bikes.

Question no:2, SOOoo FARRrr there have no complaints or problems yet - Even Some UK bike magazines claims/says that yamaha is one of the manufacturer who still makes the best/smooth shafts..!

First if you can get a bike? THEN - :goodluck: to you!!... about the colour is a matter of spraying(change colour) only.
