I was thinking of lighter way too...but scared I would made a mess of it.

When it arrives I then let it rip! :D

You didn't do any securing of camera to the mount? the clip holding the camera is so trust worthy? I worry about the camera flying out from the vibrations more than the mount flying off.

Which part of your bike did you placed the mount on?

Trust me bro, it's secure. I have to yank it out to detach it from the bike. Initially I used cable tie to secure cam to mount, but it was too troublesome and difficult to remove it from the mount. Glue gun is cheap. Glue sticks are even cheaper. There will be mess regardless using glue gun or lighter. Trial and Error.

You should be more concerned about the vibrations spoiling your videos. I mount it on the front fairing. Least vibration.

I tried mounting it on my handlebar in the beginning. Even deshaker can't save the footage.

hey guys want help in mounting cameras? i have like many videos of my rides, but i dunno how to upload them.

can show u guys pictures of my mount though, will take pics and post them in the afternoon

The first pics is the mount, using cable ties and just your normal small tripod bought from any camera shop (:, just find holes to squeeze the cable ties and secure them tightly.

Second picture is the view when filming, thats what you will see in the video, theres no shakiness or anything of that sort, just that the sound of wind can be quite loud.

Third pic is the mount up close again

Enjoy, and recently I bought another flexible tripod which can bend about, I will take pics of that and show you guys.

The new tripod which I love and specially bought for filiming rides on my bike is the flexible tripod which is very worth it and durable. comes in different colours too. it can bend and coil itself up and you just need two or 3 cable ties to firm it up and secure it (:

By the way if you want know the camera I use, its my digital sony camera which normal tourist or any random person who takes pictures use (: have been using it for years, and it runs on memory stick and has 4gb of space, quite good, and gives great quality videos

Hope it helps for those who want to mount a camera for their future rides (:

I believe the flexible tripod can be coiled around your handlebar and fastened by two or 3 cable ties and you get a perfect view of your ride

Great Nabil thanks ! To upload your videos, just use Youtube it's fairly straight forward and post a link here.

On the first mount, I can see it's fixed by cable ties to the mirror, but below, is it resting on anything or fixed to anything ? I mean the bottom part of the camera mount ?

For your new tripod, when you fixed it and tested it on the bike, please post pics and review - I've considered this solution and always wondered if it could work ! :)

Yup will be doing a test run later this afternoon (:

The tripod has 3 legs, I cabled tied two legs together firmly and there was a partial gap in between the mirrors and brake line wire, fitted it there and just cable tied there firmly.

I tried youtube, i have some videos there which I posted last time, but nowadays it always has an error half way uploading and fails

Sorry to be fussy nabil, but could you ake a picture of the mount on your bike (the old one not the new cool flexi-tripod) from the front of the bike to illustrate what you just explained.

Sorry for being a bit slow... :cheeky:

For the videos maybe you can try dailymotion or vimeo ?

Excellent, thanks so much Nabil ! :cheer:

In the video the riding speed and the video speed seems slow, is it because it was taken at slow speed ? (by slow I mean normal traffic speed)

It's indeed steady and not shaky and I love the wide angle it gives

Last but not least - loved the music :D

That's the GoPro Hero. US$ 299.99 http://www.goprocamera.com/index.php?area=2&productid=29#

I honestly feel that with that price, you can purchase a fairly decent PnS camera and customise your own mount for a fraction of the price.

Hehehe. Just my 2 cents.

Wow that is really cool, but then again I am honestly happy with my less then 10 dollar mount, cable ties - very cheap! and tripod is few dollars.

The camera is just my own personal one I use, not any special kind of camera for riding purpose (:

Thanks for sharing bro, maybe one day we can DIY smth for ourselves hahhaa

No worries at all!

Yeah I ride very slow and safely as a precaution too (: beside I have no rush for time at all, haa

Thanks for the lovely comments, hopefully can go riding next time with you and we can take more videos and make a nice short clip with different camera angles (:

Nabil's chase piloting is superb, he's the new director of Top Gear Singapore :p

Yes, this is nabil's camera work:

@Kalyan

Where do you put your camera at when filming rides?

There are various ways to mount cameras on my bike, as i have lots of extra racks and mountable brackets for that reason.

1. Windshield/left mirror; the nokia E63 is positioned such that only the lens protrudes from the windshield giving the sound pickup tremendous bass.

[yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CkT6cvVr5iY[/yt]

"Boresight" perspective (ie, focused forward) and can be moved left/right to capture bikes in formation.

2. Left box; the RC aircraft camera can be cable tied to the top handle of the box giving a view like this:

[yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Msr7_mUoMlQ[/yt]

This is interesting in that clutch control, signaling and riding posture can be determined. However it looks much faster than reality, and vehicles look closer in the picture than they really are due to the box's perspective, giving a sense of 'dangerous driving' or 'action packed', your pick.

There are other mounts planned:

3. "Rear turret" - I have a big metal luggage rack which can use Mustafa centre flexi tripods to capture any perspective front, rear, side

4. Arm mounted camera - I don't like helmet cams (don't like risking helmeet attachments) but my arms are pretty stationary when riding so a forearm mounted camera is doable. Chain the camera to my arm (yes I have small chains for the S&M look :p)
