A French Ducati rider passed away at Tuas recently. Traffic accident with a taxi which was attempting an illegal U-turn.

Rest-in-peace.

I rode with him to Malacca before. He was a very nice, friendly chap. Thierry was his name. Had a S4RS and a MV Tamburini. RIP Thierry.

Current rides: Ducati 999 and X9 500 SL

Saw a Ducati 1098 plate FBB 88XX along Circular Road having lunch.

Nice bike!

At least I enjoyed watching the bike more than watching the lunch crowd.

Cheers!

Hiz,

What brand of aftermarket Clutch Slave Cylinder did u change to? STM?

Where did u get it from?

S'pore hard to get aftermarket parts for Ducati besides internet.

Yup, STM. Got it from Sporting Motors. Ohlins you can get from him too, plus Brembo also.

What else you need "aftermarket"? Is not your bike good enough as it is? Normally I would sough for aftermarket options for a better price, or better reliability on component life. Apart from that, everything else like the head gaskets, timingt belts, are all OEM parts when I replace.

My bike not very bling....cuz I always fear wasting money the moment I go down in the tracks.

Guys,

I was thinking of doing this http://www.mbpducati.com/4v/index.htm when I get a Duc again.....any thoughts? Helps to keep valve clearances in tab, cuz labour here is EXPENSIVE. But my ex-748 never had any problems though. Maybe because I ride the bike hard, like it's meant for

And there's mention of the rocker arm always flaking off the chrome. Any issues? It's a common problem for the 01 and older Ducs. I guess I will re-chrome mine when I get, my Duc during full servicing.

Hi,

Yes my bike is good enough and i love it the way it is.

The reason i look for aftermarket is the same as yours. But i read throughout the internet that 916s' OEM clutch slave cylinder is unreliable so i was hoping to change to a aftermarket one.

What else can i change to improve my 916's reliablitiy? KNN?

Thanks!

To improve your bike's reliability, you first gotta know what is unreliable!

To improve your bike's reliability, you first gotta know what is unreliable!

Before I start, you use the 916 for commuting or track?

And I agree with Neo...very much.

The slave cylinder, was leaking so badly on mine that I need to top up once a week, before I change the STM. In between that, it was not affecting my clutch operations at all, and all that time I was still riding the 748 in the tracks. However, I prefer the feel of the OEM slave cylinder.

The next thing was my clutch drum. My 1st full servicing when I got the bike 3 yrs ago, Michael Chong already told me it's worn, but usable....so the "usable" became 2.5yrs later when I got the STM 48T clutch set courtesy of Will who sold me his 2nd hand STM.

There are certain things you dun fool around with like brakes and tyres. There are many things which are "If it ain't broke, dun fix it."

If your slave cylinder is not leaking now, why change it? Save up the money first. It's like COE....your OEM can still last 1 yr, why change it early? The OEM cylinder would simply sit at home doing nothing. I rather use until it spoils, change a new one, and sell the OEM away as scrape metal, ha. Keeping OEM parts at home is an eye sore for me.

KNN air filter will not give you reliability....just an air filter that can be reuse and reuse.....if you really want to, find out how much the recharger kit (cleaning and re oiling-kit) cost. It might even be more worthwhile to just replace OEM filters everytime.

Save some $$$ for a killer on used pro arm Ducatis.....the rear wheel bearing. That one will cost you close to $500. If you add in swing arm bearings on the engine mount, that will bust $500 in all. The eccentric hub bearing if I remember correctly cost $240 already for the double brace design. There's one more single brace, not so expensive.

Reliability is very subjective. Every bike can be reliable......it's how much $$$ you willing to spend.

Nologicone > That looks like a nice mod, might stretch valve service intervals even longer.

Yup....I will definately do it when I get a Duc here....I dun mind doing the 6k/12k miles valve clearance check as usual...as long as the clearance always stay within limits.

Will update in a couple of yrs time, lol....getting a Motard first.

Hilary.

OK..Confess please. Who's already got one of these Hypermotards and do they deserve the, uh, Hype?

I finally made it down to Minerva and sat on one. Like a scooter on steroids. Taller than my Multistrada, but way lighter it seems.

Mary said she's sold NINE of these already. I want one, but I may be leaving Singapore so I have to see how that pans out first.

Yes, the Hypermotard makes no sense--no tank range, no weather protection, no touring ability and nowhere really nearby to exploit its potential, unless you count Johor Circuit and who wants to throw down a $30,000 motard when you overcook a corner? Oh, the high likelihood you'll get on a first-name basis with the TP here. But fack it. I still want one. I just wish we could move Sepang/Awana/PosLim, etc., a few hundred klicks south.

I happen to be at Katong Village last evening. Saw a group of bikers there... 3 1098's, a brand spanking new Hypermotard, and some other bikes (bmw's, ktm superduke, .....)... anyone from here?

I wonder where ktkt goes.....

He used to organise outings for this thread at Simpang Bedok. Maybe someone can relive it again. But I point out ktkt is because he is pretty knowledgeable and he's a D.I.Y man. I learned alot from him and doing online research.

We have quite a few in this thread who are performance minded, but to be fair, they track their Ducs in PG.

Hope the meetup dun die....

The 3x 1098 and HyperMotard I believe they dun hang out in the forum.

Save your money....buy one here in CA. Cheaper than the 1098 even over here at USD$15k for the 1000cc. The 800cc is even cheaper at USD$11k I think....read about it on bay area forum.

Come come, faster lah.....I'm waiting!

Wanna track the HM, you could...just have to remove those blings (turn signals with mirrors or is it mirrors with turn signals?), put on axel sliders, you are good to go....motards are supposed to be hardy, if they really comes from dirtbike family.

Er, Duc got dirtbike?

Enjoy the Duc....it's known that it vibrates itself to death. You go ask your bro Ming...he could help you see anything unusual.

And you could have use the EDIT feature to "add on", lol...
