Yup... My 1st time on my 999 was 2.12

2nd attempt was 2.03

Gotta change my timing belt, chain and sprocket b4 i head down again

just changed to Corsa III. giving it a try

Still trying to get below 2min

 

Anyway, take it easy for the first few time, just get around the track and familiarise ur bike first... Dun think too much about cutting down the timings, u should get ur self to ride fast and SAFE.....Thats the most important, cos we are there to enjoy ourselves... I believe the suspension has been setup properly by Neo previously already, so u can set ur mind at ease on that....

I didn't change the suspension settings much actually, just firmed up the rear preload and added abit of rebound damping to compensate.

 

If you're adventurous, change the steering head angle. The bike will suddenly feel like a 600cc machine.

Hi guys, feel ashamed that i just only found this thread. I've been a proud owner of ducati for just over 4 and a half yrs (900SS, now 1000DS).

Thinking of selling my multi and getting a used 999 or 749. Been itching to get on a track since my SS. My multi sits unused in the carpark and i sometimes ride it once a month just to charge batt and turn and lubricate the engine. such a waste as i dont use it for everyday riding and i haven't toured for over a year as i got bored of it besides not having the time for long trips.

Do you guys think i should make the switch?? Both my ducatis i own(ed) is/was 1st hand. It'll be my 1st used duc if i do switch.

Anyone know anyone who's interested in a multi?

And roughly how much is a used 749/999?

And anyone know anyone who's selling? (not right now, busy with work till oct no time to do the paperwork )

Lots of other reasons that made me consider the switch but my post is LONG enough.

You can knee down on a Vespa if you want to.

 

Just go down and enjoy yourself. Be patient and don't push yourself too hard, soon you'll be grinding your knee sliders to dust and overtaking other sportbikes on your Multistrada, then after that cruise home in comfort while they agonise over the rough Malaysian roads.

Why not try a weekday on armoured jacket and jeans? I mean, try it once to see if you really wanna do track riding. Not shy to say, the 1st time I rode the 748, I was wearing touring jackets, jeans and army boots. After that 1st spirited ride, it was enough to convince me to get my stuffs and be commited. Everybody definately have doubts about loving the track only after they been on it once. I'm sure you are very discipline and are definately not an ego filled guy who is trying to be Casey Stoner for your 1st time. I do not think you would have any problems having a safe time because having chat up with you, I know you are not a foolish person.

+1 to what Neo suggested! John (Multi4sale) was at Sepang with me and DOC in 2005 and he was having fun on his Multi! To be fair, the Multi had been a popular choice of weapon overseas for Production Twin Category, and I'm sure there is a reason for that! Of course, these Multi are sorted out well and setup properly of course, and yes, knee sliders are getting killed by racers on MultiStrada.

 

Of course, I would suggest that you put on Sport tyres like DC3, Sportec M3, Qualifiers, BT012SS (forget BT014 - they are crap for trackdays) or the Pilot Power 2CT before going in. Sports touring rubbers are really really not the right rubber, which I feel I need to address this issues as I believe many Multi owners are towards the Sports Touring tyres which gives long mileagues.

 

Oh of course, if you plan on racing tyres, even better! I coax my fren on a Frazer 1000 to try out race tyres and he simple love it, though he was constantly lapped by everyone. He always reached home safely, so who cares about the ego?

yes bro, go during weekday. i can still remember my first time at PG. went there alone, lost along the way cos there is 2 masai exit, read somewhere that jeans , jackets , army boots and gloves are all required, and sya refused to let me in. jackets doesnt have armor. only 1 rider on that dayand finally after my endless begging, i was allowed down for half an hr.

 

after that i immediately went to LAB to get armor jacket.

Yup i've thought of that before and seen pics of multis on track doing kneedowns. Its a great well rounded bike and i may try it 1 day. I'll see how things go. But 1 of the reasons for considering a switch is i would like a more focused bike for track use (just for fun and the experience, not to be a real racer) as i don't ride it for commuting.

A switch once you give track a try and you know you like it, is never too late. Spending $$$ for a sportsbike to try it out, seems kindda waste of money. Not forgetting you will still need a full suit, full face, full gloves and racing boots to be committed.
