I watched also, was wondering why they all put 1 leg down to touch the tarmac at end of the long straight before they turn.... Havnt watched motoGP for a couple of years....

Cos after the long straight they are much harder on the brakes before the turn - causing the bike's nose to dive more and the rear end almost weightless, therefore putting their leg down, lowers the CG by a fraction, adds slightly more mass and pressure on the rear tire so that they do not lose traction on the rear tire and to keep the rear tire planted on the tarmac. Hope that explains it. ^_^

I read an interview with Stoner, and another with Rossi - they both can't quite explain why but they say it helps them brake harder and later. Not tried it myself, clearly not going fast enough or braking late enough.

...too many to list

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Had a bit of experience with GPR street legals on an older bike. Can't say i was happy with the fitment. Sound signature could be better too but it was on a different bike so i guess it depends

I did a search on akra and arrow street legal slipons for the 996 but nothing came up. I highly prefer these brands if they are still available for older models. Has anyone ever seen these brands on the older superbikes?

yammy> Didn't know the termis had removable db-killers. Wont be much good when the cops start asking for LTA certs though. Wish minerva would just get their bloody act together, its not like they started selling ducatis yesterday!

I guess Leovince should do it in a pinch, if they have CF cans and i can pull the stickers off...lol

OK this time i searched youtube instead of the manufacturer sites. Arrows and akras definitely exist for the 996 (the arrow sounds nicer though), but no idea if they are legal, and if there is a dealer here that still carries them. Does anyone know who the agents are for these models in singapore? motorworld? I've been out of the riding game a long time so any help is appreciated

I was seated over 50m away having a barbie and a stubbie. :)

the sound of the dry clutch was so clear and distinct, I didnt have to look up to confirm it was a red monster. :)

decent sound for stock exhaust!

went for re-inspection today with stock exhaust.. sucks

power delivery now's quite unpredictable below 4000rpm? quite rough actually.. but it actually sounds louder compared to the termi slip-on's with silencers installed.. and at least im getting better fc now and wont have to worry about lta buggers!

the termis are still for sale!! :) may switch to akras in time to come.. not cheap though!

Just in case anyone is wondering, i just came back from bike21 to check out the arrow systems. They have a bunch of pipes, even for the older bikes. both race and street models. The guy there is checking up to see whether the street end cans are legal in singapore for my application and will get back to me. Pricing 2K-2.4K. Some systems include midpipes as well and are still legal despite that

Will see what the akrapovic options are maybe tomorrow or friday

the akra titanium slip-ons which are street legal are almost 2.7k. I asked them to help me check if they can bring in the cf slip-on's and certify it. the full system is more than 5k, but the headers are not approved. hope this helps :)
