Hi ~

got some technical issues needing some help ~

1) Which screw do I take out to remove the seat? I only know of one screw at the back. I saw 2 bolt at the side of the seat (somewhere at the mid of the seating) pointing backwards. Are those 2 the ones to take out ?

2) I saw a previous thread about removing the tank. I heard there's 2 layers to it, one being only the cover, and the other the tank inself. Is it possible to bring out the tank COVER solely?

How do I do so?

Want to repaint the rear mud guard and the tank.

Adventure.

1) yes correct, as long u see screw means can remove (bikee theory)

2) wad u mean? u said urself there is 2 layers, one cover one tank, jus take out the cover lor, u will have to detach some wires to remove it frm ur bike...

removing the rear fender will be a pain in the ass i tell ya, coz there's lots of wiring there...

1) Yes, remove the rear screw and the two at the side. Push seat backwards and upwards to remove.

2) The best hint here is look for the faux tank's attachment points. I'd try those screws on the speedo console first... FYI, pureice68 has resprayed his tank cover and should be able to guide you through in more detail.

the weather here is so hot...i wish i know how to do the rain dance..

a little off topic..:dot:

ahhhhhhh..are you all getting a new prime minister??

hope the next one will bring good tidings to europe and rest of the world..

too many bad news already:dot:

I'd vote for the Monster Raving Loony party for the sheer fun of it.

Thank yousi~

Just went to try get my rear fender out. Fail right from the start lol. Next better time =.=

Couldnt get the seat out cos I coulndt get the bolt that attached the back rest to come out .

Looks way rustier than my other bolts and oiling it didnt help much.

And just to confirm if I got the right bolt for the back rest,

It's the same hole used with the one that attached the box bracket to the bike right?

sometimes DIY gets a little frustrating LOLS. Now I know where the price is paid for ~

aww. sad. not free tonight.

just wanna know if it's possible to take out the backrest without touching other partS?

from what i see, it seems like the back rest is hooked to the "chrome bar" that holds the signal light.

If so, that means I've to remove my box, bracket, the "chrome bar", then I can remove the back rest and the seat?

My problem is getting weirder. I realize that after riding for a while I can switch from high beam to low beam and it works! But if cold starting no low beam. This problem started after I ride in very heavy rain. So it doesn't seems like bulb filament gone. Guess it's time to see a mechanic. :sian:

Ah, for a moment I was worried it was a wiring problem. :cheeky:

Thanks for the tips about using the high beam. ;-)

This morning suddenly when riding halfway my bike got **** **** sound when switch to 2nd gear. Later in the day still the same. Bike shop uncle told me the repair cost for this is estimated at least $500. :sian:Any help for this? Tks

Lao, the 4 letter word is censored ah! The bike keeps cok cok and vibrates when change to 2nd gear. Will change gear shaft helps?

Lol censored. Always fun.

Gearbox stuff is unfortunately too risky/chim to DIY so yes it will require a quite costly repair.

But in the meantime... can you live with it? The other gears are fine, yes? But even so I think this case is better repair or else more serious damage in future. Lord knows what that loose part is hitting inside the gearbox.

what is **** and who is this uncle ?

check at planet motor..

Thanks. The censored word is the 4 letter word for the male human reproductive organ. The uncle is a mechanic at a nearby bike shop in CCK. He only advised me say that repair may cost at least $500. Looks like planet is my only soultion now.

I can live with it. But it's not healthy for bike in the long run. What i can do today is quickly skip the 2nd gear when up shift gear. This is what the uncle told me to tahan for moment also. I have just spent $300 plus changing the starter motor, disc brake and rear wheel. And now this prob happens. :dozed:

I know that feeling of -_- lol Thankfully we have enough torque to skip the gear completely and carry on in 3rd.

Most would just get a new bike but I applaud you for sticking to yours till the end!

With that much down in repairs you might as well keep the bike anyway.

No, in fact i intend to change to super 4 end of this year. But i will not be able to tahan this prob till end of this yr so long. So i intend to visit Planet this week to resolve this prob. The bike uncle says this prob is common for Phantoms. Is it?

You get a big "dunno" from me because I only owned a Phantom for 5000km. Right now waiting if my block would explode from recent DIY tuning.

I have read that the mechanical weaknesses of a Phantom are the 6th gear and the cam chain tensioner (replace every 20,000km or so), in the meantime.
