I have a question. Where do you guys dispose the waste oil? I hope it doesn't become gutter oil that is used to cook the $2.50 nasi padang with mutton and squid...

I have this problem recently. My front left signal bulb keeps burning out. For the past 2 months, I have changed the same bulb 5 times. I find it odd that I have to change this frequently and always the same side. Anyone got any suggestions?

Posted

1. is your rectifier overcharging? typical charging voltage ~14.5-14.6 - too high may shorten bulb life

2. sometimes finger stains / oil stains on bulb surface causes premature burn out for headlamp. may apply to signal lamp as well.

(i use alcohol swabs and tissue paper when changing bulb)

3. crazy and not so helpful idea is to examine how the bulb filament fuse my by looking at filament up close.

thats what ppl usually do when they diagnose failure mode for tungsten filaments for electron microscopy.

I have a friend who told me about finger stains also. I rule out rectifier cos only 1 bulb burn out all the time.

maybe where u bought the bulbs too.. there was 2 place that i consistently got really bad quality bulbs.. the filament is not the coiled kind and will fuse faster..

Might be a wiring problem.

Could be the insulation cracked/splitted somewhere, then occasionally touch something metallic short ciruit the lamp.

But only occaionally because the opening is not big, and most of the time the wire not exposed.

Happened to me before.

Silent is spot on. Exposed wiring. Took me 5 bulbs to finally discover.

Anyone knows what this wire is connected to? Discovered it broken today while washing my bike. First pic is taken facing the headlight. It curls upwards in the second picture and leads to somewhere behind the front left chrome cover.http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/14/ujy8a7ej.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/14/usetujyq.jpg

Yea, from the ends it looks like it's been disconnected a while. I'll pay a visit to the mech tmrw.

that's a double insulated wire with paired conductors inside - either something additional that previous owner added or part of the wire harness

- can only guess when i see the left chrome cover open up

Just returned from Ah Fook. It was an old IU wire.

Hi bros, new PK here.

1. Any idea how much it cost to replace the master brake cylinder level (ie. brake fliuid indicator). Mine is too old and dried up can't see nothing (even though brakes work)? Any recommended place?

2. Any value for money place to do a paint job (fenders, tanks, some chrome parts + fork + rims + engine)

3. Low beam doesn't work. Are the high beam and low beam bulbs separate bulbs? If not, what could be cause of low beam not working? Any recommended shop to buy rreplacement bulb?

Thanks!!

1. i think it was 40-60sgd that range. cant remb how much. i changed @ planet 1yr plus ago.

i think the typical prices thread got write.

3. the headlamp is a h6m dual filament bulb - usually the low beam will fuse but the high beam will work.

any shop will work. planet $2 per bulb iirc. try to look for stanley one cos brighter. some shop sell 3rd party bulb which either fuse quite fast or poor soldering at the bulb connections.

The brake cylinder window blur is ok one. Don't waste money. Can spend it doing something else.:)
