me and a few frens tot of reliving our 4wd glory dayz... since we are working and can afford more parts... just dat we are not sure whr to find tracks to test our cars... in the past shops ard my house got open track whr we freely test and race our cars

 

so if anyone with info please share with us

i thrashed my car long time ago... if i can find a place where they hav open track for testing.. i dont mind playing again

Brings back memories man!! If only there are still places that sells the accessories and parts.. Would love to get the plasma motor which I so wanted during my Pri days.. Haha..

hi bros... i m no biker... m new to the forum... come across it while i was searching for tamiya stufff... really remember the younger days when i was racing it...

 

anyway rekindled the interest suddenly again... got a new car yesterday and some basic modification stuff... will continue working to improve my car... in view of the next race on 19 july i think...

 

any bros interested in the race... i think we have something in common...

 

last time kid no much money... now earning my own living can afford to splurge a bit on this hobby...

according to the schedule... the race is at kiddy's palace at toa payoh hub. i have geared my new car up for this race... kinda excited... :)

And you're getting your little kid brother/sister to go "trackside" to launch the cars right?

 

 

'Cos I really really cannot imagine one big guy standing amongst the gee nah waiting to go lacing leh.....

from wat i see in some of the youtube videos... there is a fair number of adults as there are children in these races... come to think of it i might lose out to the kids...

 

there are also other race organisers all over singapore in addition to the stargek-organised race... btw stargek is the licensed distributor for tamiya products in singapore.

 

there are frequent races in tampines and pasir ris... trying to find out the details.

I still remember myself participating in a couple of these little races when I was just in Primary 4 or 5.

 

I even practiced SOLDERING for those races. :lol:

 

I used to open up those Hyperdash engines, and I would remove the number of turns per arm ('cos the less no. of turns means the engine turns faster for a given current/voltage... I even studied the bloody encyclopedia to find that out back then!) by cutting the coil wire, then soldering it back.

 

Of course, Tamiya races had their "LTA" officials who would inspect each individual engine for mods (dunno why the hell they didn't allow engine mods... hahaha) and DQ you if they found evidence. So even opening/closing the engine casing required a lot of care, steady hands, a very fine flat screwdriver. :lol:

 

 

The things a kid would do to make his mini car faster.

 

And we grew up to tinker with our real life bikes and cars. :angel:

wow... my car's resting peacefully in the box, in my cupboard full of unfinish/finished plastic kit models...

 

all the motor's kaput liao, cos i try with fresh batteries, nt even the best motor I had could rotate faster than my baby's portable fan... :lol:

 

still remember after sch, go straight to the neighbourhood shop's track for a spin & side bets of slurpees & snacks...

 

the new cars nowadays seems nice, but i still prefer the old sch cars in Zero bodies, like Super Astute, Avante, the Dash series(esp with the knobby tires), FM series...

 

those were the days.. :rolleyes:

Actually I did that before...during NS days...there was a Tamiya race happening at Lot 1...me and my mate thought we could beat those kids since we earning money liao. End up my car too fast...2nd turn keep flying off the track :cry:

hmn...recently was watching cartoon on OKTO with my kid.. then saw this cartoon series about tamiya 4wd.

 

haha loads of memories came back.. lol

 

saw that they got this new 'super high tech' new tamiya cars for sale. was tempted for a minute to go and buy. lol
