hey bros !

i was riding along airport road going home ..

as usual im cruising arnd 70+ 80 on the 70 road ..

a TP came beside me and rode side by side ..

out of courtesy i even waved..

then after that when stopped he blabbered somethings to me ..

could hear a **** so i removed my ear phone.

asked me where i was going and i said home.

then after that he say u know u were speeding ? i was like huh

then he on the siren and asked me to stop infront side road..

so i stopped and talked to him.. ask me speed limit and mentioned was 70 .. then he say i was speeding. i told him i saw my meter 70 .. and moreover there were other vehicles arnd me also . then he asked me to look at his digital meter and it shows " 100.00 " like wth got so freaking accurate that he can clock me run at 100 to show the 30km difference ? then he gave me 8 pts and 150 bucks.. i told him that if i really sped i wld know and ask him to give chance cos my first time getting pts. then he say dun nonsense 1st time 2nd time blah blah . then he say 6 pts and 150 bucks..

WTH SIAL ! can i appeal on this ? i think its pure injustice..

prolly he cant hit quota and he just want to catch me to meet it ?

Anyway i asked him abt e earphone issue. he say its legal .

if you know u were speeding and a tp was cruising beside u ..

1st reaction is slow down ! but no iwas at 70 and im sure so i continued !

just got my 24 pts and now 6 pts fly away ..

guys can i appeal on this ?

Btw is the DIPS demerit points awarded on the spot ?

as in LIVE ?

I think this TP just dont like your face lah,

you just very sway that day to meet a TP on the road.

I drive and ride for so many months and never ever see any TP, and lorrys, prime movers and buses zoom pass me or tail gate me or even high beam me on the expressway also no TP care a d.a.m.n.

It doesn't make any difference whether a motorcyclist has the right-of-way or not, the rider is the one most likely to get hurt.

Ayyang, if this is true, then I feel for you dude.

Published on the Straits Times last year, an Indian fella on a delivery van, who was caught with a traffic offence (i think) similar to yours but that he was sure he didn't commit, contested this charge and went all the way to court. He hiring a lawyer and in court, pleaded innocent and denied any wrongdoing.

In the end, he won the case but by then, it was already a year since he had his license revoked (for the wrong reason), and that all his money was already spent on lawyer's fees and the court as well.

But he was happy.

It could be like some says yours got speedo error that says you are moving slow but actually fast.

Can test it out at some spots in Singapore with the speed reading. If have GPS better. Can check the speed via GPS.

Anyway no use fighting in court, waste time and money. Just try and appeal.

This usually occur if you may have change to a bigger sprocket size. One reason is because most bikes nowadays reads the speedo via the engine thus are factory calibrated with the bike's factory sets of sprockets. May I know what bike you are riding?

See this webby 'Eddies' to check you license status

There's no way for you to prove you weren't speeding, so whether or not the cop made a genuine mistake, there's nothing you can do... sucks.

oh, and eddies isn't updated instantly:

Eddies FAQ

29. If I have been booked for a traffic offence today, when will my traffic offence records be reflected on EDDIES?

EDDIES only reflects records of outstanding traffic summonses issued by the Traffic Police. If you are being investigated for a traffic offence but have not been issued with a traffic summons, the records will not be reflected on EDDIES.

For example, if you have been booked for a traffic offence and issued a traffic summons on the spot, the traffic summons records will be reflected on EDDIES after 2 working days. However, if you have been booked for a traffic offence such as hand phone driving that requires some investigation, the traffic summons will only be issued after some time upon the conclusion of the investigation. In this case, the traffic summons record will only be reflected on EDDIES after the traffic summons has been issued upon the conclusion of investigation.

Haha! Same here! What bike you ride? Mine is a YBR sia. Damn heavy bike, super slow. TP never even bother to look at me. Got once, i was doing my thing on the expressway, he came up beside me, blow blow then lane split all the way. Haha. When you ride a really slow bike your ego was lost with the money you handed over to bike shop. :)

That is y u may wanna test your speedometer. Get a GPS to test. See if that satisfy you. Who knows your speedo has been faulty. And yes Comparing Digital and Analog meters, digital tends to be more accurate (means bikes factory fitted and not those change to aftermarket). BUT there will still be a small speedo error.

No harm checking your speedo with the GPS speedo.

Mine has a 7% error and with that in mind, I tend to know how fast I am travelling with a simple arithmetic in the head.

Taken from website (http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/technical-stuff/19598-digital-speedo.html)

"I have read that the digital speedos have an accuracy of +-1km. While I have noticed that there is considerable difference in the analog readings.

Once my friend and I were riding close to each other, I saw that the speedo of his bike showed 60km/hr and mine showed a shade above 65km/hr. Not sure which one was right. Perhaps both were wrong."

"I've an interesting thing to narrate on the accuracy of the analog speedos. The garmin GPS in my Safari also gives me the speed of my vehicle albeit tracked via satellite. The analog speedo of my Safari shows a difference of atleast 5-7 points higher than what the GPS shows; i.e if the speedo is showing 75 then the GPS indicates 70 or 71.

I dunno which one is accurate..:-)"

Check the termite's front tyre. The Yamaha Police Meter is essentially a digital one that reads off a magnetic sensor at the front brake disc.

If the front tyre is soft, the reading will be significantly higher.

Your defence will be a snapshot of the deflated front tyre together with the TP license plate number, and best if you bike is in the background. No photo = hard to appeal or do it in court.

2 weeks ago my fren was stopped at Xilin Ave. I saw the bugger gesturing to him and was thinking in my mind, speeding. I stopped and pointed at the white ant's deflated front tyre. In the end my fren only got summon'ed for folded mirrors, and not speeding which carries a heavier fine and demerit points.

EDIT >>

To add on, how does a TP clock ppl with that digital meter (not radar or laser camera)?

He will have to ensure that he's travelling at the same speed as you, using the bike (not road markings) as a reference, and that both termite and offender are not braking. He then presses the STOP button to freeze the reading, and stops to summon you. He then releases the meter, and proceeds on to the next victim. :faint:
