wah sian man, these few days keep raining, now my bike like have some watery/choppy sound when i rev.... :weep: :weep:

hope it wun cost much to fix....anyone had this prob before and wat are the causes and remedies....pls advise

When riding in rain with G4, try to maintain high rev when stopping at traffic light or while riding. The heat from the engine itself can dry up the spark plugs. Also try to seat as far back as possible so that ur weight can close the gap between the rider seat and the coverset to prevent water from seeping through under the rider's seat. Thats where the fusebox of G4 is.

:btw: ...anybody got any lobangs for G4's K&N air filter and how much is it? :cheer:

Bro u can try check out this thread http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=207425 however the offer have closed so u can check with the bike shop stated.

17L is full tank. i hit below reserve then pump full tank ard 12L+.

meaning there's ard 6L of reserve petrol?

reserve only 3litres +- and depends on how u pump ur petrol in ur tank and consider it full. My bike was already using reserve after travelling 310-320 km and when i pump petrol in jb the amount i pump in was already 15 litres+ nearly 16 litres.

actually, i wanted to take out the endcan, burn & blow. but no matter how i pulled, just wont come out... ...

Bro our endcans are not like other 400cc bikes like RVF,Fireblade,ZX4 etc where the endcans are riveted. Normal G4 endcans are welded. If u wanna modify ur endcan u have to saw off the endcan, modify and weld it back again. Correct me if im wrong.

Sorry to hear of ur fren's loss. Will try and keep a lookout. Not to disheartened ur fren however I chatted with the boss of one of the bikeshops in Ah Gua Lane and he informed that once the thieves(usually bike mechanics) have stolen an Sg bike they will not keep the bike overnight. The bike will be stripped off its parts, where the parts will be sold in KL and other Northern states of Malaysia. Will try to ask around at Ah Gua lane.

thanks bro for the info on the air filter...anyway..are u talking bout the endcan itself or endcan + midpipe...coz i don't think the midpipe is welded to the header...i removed mine by loosening the bracket holding the midpipe together with the header..anyway that bike that got stolen belongs to my elder brother..if they stripped off its part..they are sending the bike to grave..its seriously a very well maintained bike..but yeah..i heard they won't keep the bike overnight...they will juz tow the bike to other states to sell..so i hope the person who stole the bike will buang and die..thanks for ur help though

how much does it cost to repair if the bike is starting 2 eat engine oil? wat if there's black engine oil frm exhaust only when whack at neutral gear?

it will depend on whats the problem...usually have to down engine..and once u down engine...the cost for workmanship is very high...and if u see black liquid coming out from ur exhaust...don't be too alarmed first...i suggest u put a tissue at the exhaust to collect the liquid then smell it...check if its petrol or oil like substance...if there's no smell..most likely its juz water that condenses in ur exhaust..and the reason y its black in colour is because of the dirt/carbon in ur exhaust pipe...if its like what i said...then u don't have to worry bout it..another method to try if its petrol or not...u can put a lighter at the exhaust and rev ur bike..if u see sparks..means its petrol..if ur lighter goes off...means its not petrol....hope it helps..=)

wah.. so much knowledge ar? i hope 2 gt a g4 but scare gt a problematic 1... haiz...

so i guess those problems that u mentioned were from some G4 that u viewed?...actually i think the exterior of the bike is not important...most importantly is to get a G4 with good engine...exterior won't cost u much to fix..and u can make it damn nice...but to overhaul the engine cost alot..be patient when u are searching for a G4

Ok a bit of a story of how I got my GSXR.

Before buying very simple, first look at the bike, if one side has scratches/dents/super new (but one side only), and the owner says the previous owner buang one, not he buang, but he got repair and is ok, he ride now no problem.

Must see the owner that side got injuries/scarred.

If got, then CONFIRM LYING!!! he "Bai Ka Bai Chew" still giving lame excuse:lol:

run! Run! RUN! and don't look back!!!!

I bought mine from Alleniate also like that check one.:cheeky:

Bike: Right side got signs of buanging before.

Ask him, he say he buy from shop already like that, and got many parts he repaired before ride for 6 months liao. So no problem, running well.

Person: I see his right hand and right leg ok.

So must be Telling the truth. :D

So buy from him.

Well kinda true. It helps if the previous owner is honest and also takes good care of the bike, like my bike's ex owner, Alvis. He even helped me out when I had "problems" with the bike. Appreciate his after service sales :thumb:

The thing about G4 as we already know is that it is an old bike, coming to the third COE renewal in about 4 - 5 yrs time so regular servicing is important maybe after 2000K - 3000K change EO, sparkplug etc. It helps also to add minerals to the engine such as fp60, STP engine cleaner etc. And most of the parts should have been changed such as the wire harness if it hasnt been changed yet.

Oh yeah just to share some info. For those who own a 1992 and below model of the G4 the horsepower is slightly higher than 1993 model and above. 59hp for 1992 below and 53hp for 1993 above. And other sportbikes which is "on par" with G4 of 59hp are the Honda VFR400NC30, Kawasaki ZX400R H model and Yamaha FZR 400

I dun think it makes a difference if u disable the powercut as the horsepower will still be the same only thing ur speed can go higher without powercut. Hmmm I never heard of 400cc sportsbikes having a powercut anyone can enlighten?

Posted
only g4 spII model got no powercut. It has 59bhp.

The rest has 53bhp if im not wrong, due to Japan change in regulation.

if i am not mistaken thats the model that also comes with the rear suspension that has a nitrogen preload cannister.

Bajaj Pulsar 180 - UG3 (2007 - )

Suzuki GSXR-400 (2008 - 2009)

Piaggio Vespa GT 200L (2009 - 2011)

Yamaha YBX 125 (2010 - )

Yamaha FZ S1 '05 (2011 - )

Wait a minute, I thought that it's because of the power cut that the HP is 53hp?

yeap, so far i know weian_85 former bike is spII model in here. but dosnt seem to come with the nitrogen preload cannister.

Yup2 Alvis bike is the spII model but i guess after changing hands(transfers) for 13 times (Im the 13th owner) i guess somewhere along the line the previous owners go and change the rear shocks.

History of GSXR400. For G4 riders reading pleasure.

Horsepower is the torque of the bike bro. Power cut is when u exceeded a certain speed limit then your whole bike the engine will die off. Thats why riders change the CDI of their bikes as the CDI is the thing that controls the power cut. Correct me if I'm wrong anyone?
