reducing the dead skin cells stinking the helmet is one thing, another thing to take note is the dust and oil from the roads that collects in your open face helmets. I dont think these particles are good for your scalp, so i strongly suggest washing the paddings to prevent hair loss and such. :)

Amazing, everything's clearly stated in my post, yet you don't get it?

It's not the helmet, its the balaclava that helps. It's the bacteria that feed on dead skin that causes the stink.

Ok, recap for layman:

Use bala = no dead skin cells in helmet cushions = no stink without washing.

my bad.. I mis-read your post. Tot you managed the smell w/o a balaclava.

guys would it be weird wearing a balaclava while wearing a open face helmet?...i mean it still serves the purpose protecting the face from the sun and dust rite??

whether its weird or not is entirely up to your own perception.

for me, i think it will look ok. alot of people wear masks while riding around in other countries like vietnam, thailand and taiwan. dun be afraid of what others think of you.

agree with this. dun let what other pple think of you stop you from doing what you think its right or good for you.

i got my buff as i could not wait any longer...don't think its weird wearing one with open face helmet...think it looks pretty cool if you wear it properly actually...

i definitely recommend getting a buff. it feels a lot better than my oxford balaclava...cos that oxford one has a seam running straight down the middle of the front part which isn't comfortable. the other designs (hjc and komine) are slightly better because the seem goes on top and back.

anyway, i have found (through experimenting) a better way of making the buff work like a balaclava than what was printed on the product packaging. so when you get one, try different ways until you find one that works best for you.

enjoy!

I have 2 buff. 1 is from "Buff' another one is from "Oxford" free from fastbike magazine. I prefer "Oxford" for those who wanna knw. Oxford can sustain its elasticity better than "Buff"

for bald heads, buff is the only viable option, seam-free. which means, no funny marks on your head. unless oxford one has seams that can be positoned not on the head. i am bald :D by choice.

I got the Oxford one totally same as Buff. Fully seamless too. And i can gurantee that the elasticity is better than buff. Unless you prefer one that is less tight for big heads.

i dun think its suppose to be. As in the one i bought for Oxford is a freebie from FastBike Magazine and i got it off the shelf from a shop. I can try to take a photo of both the buff. As for the Motoworld one that you bought i not too sure. I remember i saw before but im really not too sure if its the same as wat i have. I try to get the pics as soon as i can. but 12 bucks for 3 is a steal hahaha.. I got my Oxford for $25 which is suppose to be a freebies and the buff for $28. But i prefer oxford.

cool, will go take a look see the next time i drop by motoworld, should be next few days. they have any neat designs?

hhmmm, buff i've liked so far cuz of the funky designs they have. i wear em for sun protection, since i've no hair. and also to wick the sweat away while doing sports. but if oxford is cheaper by a fair bit, might grab one for purely m/c use. thought of a bala too, any idea on the pricing for the oxford ones?

Thanks for the feedback. I've tried the various options of coverage and find that in some configurations, the neck is no longer covered. Anyway, I'm using it now in place of the bandanna I was using previously.

Now, I'm looking at the Buff Visor. Motoworld don't carry it.
