New Touring and Sport Versions of Cam-Am Spyder!

Bombardier Recreational Products has had a remarkable success with its three-wheeled Can-Am Spyder since the roadster’s launch more than two years ago, and the big news is that the Spyder is to be developed into two streams – one for sports riding and one for touring. The existing GS model will now be designated the Spyder RS (roadster sport) and the new touring range will be designated Spyder RT (roadster touring). There’s also a new special edition Spyder RS-S model, with a host of additional features as standard, three RT models and a purpose-built 622 liter trailer.

well if i dun remember wrongly when there is the test ride in SG by MCA, i remember hearing this spyder needs to be registered on car plate not a bike plate so all cost are actually car expenses... the reason being the width of the spyder is too big which exceed bike's limit. so its cat as a car.

go see the youtube vids. it has 2 "legs" with wheels which will lower and allow the bike to roll like a car at speeds below 5km/h. Then when u corner and fall down, those little wheels at the side also will prevent fairing damage. DAMN COOL! i saw the track videos. Too bad it will probably cost like $100000 in sg. but it would draw more attention than any ducati.

I saw this on discovery channel, haha..

It's a great bike/car.. But I feel it removes some of the essence of bike riding.. like the wind/perception of speed as well as the riding posture, in a way the only thing it retains is the ability to corner. It's not unlike that 3 wheeled car that can corner, can't remember what it's called though, but I think top gear reviewed it.

 

It's a real head turner though, no doubt man. More than any Lamborghini/Ferrari could ever hope to achieve.

i remember when im abt 10 years old i was reading this Malaysian motorcycle mag called Roda-Roda.they review this kind of bike and i said to myself "so damn cool.will get 1 when im old enuf and rich".years passed and i forgot the name of the bike and now u provided the link,eventhough its not the exact same bike they reviewed.thx!

Much wider than a bike, no cover so there is no advantage of a car too.

Yeah. It's Swiss and it's handmade, therefore it's hideously expensive.

 

But it's still a cool proposition. The luggage space is stowed behind the passenger's seat. You're seated in cool comfort and protected from rain and road rash.

 

It's probably not a very suitable vehicle in town, but I can see it being an excellent tourer.

have. the monotracer have a roof over your head and shelter the rider of weather conditions.. you dont have to stop by the road shoulder wearing your raingear, or take cover just cos you dun have any raingear / deem unsafe to ride..

 

side note, the 4 small wheels are activivated by sensor? cannot imagine if the sensor spoils.. lol.. you will just feel so helpless and fall.

I don't think that's a good idea, it'll look like a slimmer chery qq with two wheels, haha. Plus I think the mechanism to keep it upright will probably fail on you... when you are right beside a lamborghini.
