At Sim Lim , shd be easy to get below $100 for 320GB . won't be surprised if prices are below $80 now for this capacity. Some c/w leather cases foc . however if u need those docks (HDD stands) to keep your hdd plugged in , may have to fork out extra .

To put in bike analogy, your question will be like "need to know the price of bike, maybe about 400cc range ones" :p

Need more details/consideration:

- 3.5" (desktop drives, need external power) or 2.5" (laptop drives, no external power)

- Branded solution (fancy casing, one touch backup, etc) or just basic (disk + casing)

The range can be ~$120 for a fancy 2.5" branded solution or ~$80+ for a 320GB 3.5" + casing "bundled".

The good thing is, unlike buying bikes, some of the shops in SLS publish their weekly pricelist online! Check for latest price list @ http://sg.hardwarezone.com/priceguide/download.php (registration req'd), and pick your poison :)

Btw, SITEX coming up next weekend. There MIGHT be some carrot dangling to get you to buy stuff.

Just last week, I saw Hitachi 320GB portable external hard disks going for $85 at Giant superstores. Dunno whether still on offer now though...:p

Western D, Asus, Ovation, Imation, among others going below $90.

Can try SLS for the same deal if you don't wanna head to SITEX.

Pls go for those that come with backup software (not the archival type) but those which provides incremental / differential or mirror backups in the full size form . Some are real cheap bcoz there is no software inside and u have to hunt for those free ones on the net which have only limited features .

Normally the backup software is self-loading and occupy a certain portion of your HDD already . I purchased a Seagate 320GB HDD which came with a Seagate encryption /backup and synchronization software already loaded in the disk. Seagate maybe a bit more pricier than WD or Ovation (which actually has a WD HDD inside) but IMO it is the most trustworthy.

ok messgae noted.. am heading down to SITEX later..

Hi bro,

If I'm not wrong, it is still possible to have the data recovered, but the cost would be definitely be expensive. It's not worth it unless you have very important data in your hard drive. You can try calling a local data recovery company and see if they could help you.

Bro, what is the command that you typed in to format your disk?

Anyways, try this: Recuva.

Run the Recuva software on another computer, plug that affected disk into it, and make sure you have another hard disk/thumbdrive ready for the extracted files that Recuva finds.

You should refrain from using that drive while you search for data recovery services/programs. As more new data is written over the disk, the less chance you have of recovering your old data.

Thx!

Around $95 - $139 for a 500GB external without AC :) depending on the brand

Ovation would be the cheapest of the lots i guess

if you wan to backup the whole system. With you OS and stuffs you can check out Seagate's replica :)

If looking for cheap deals... IT shows would be the best place to look :) normally below retail prices and sometimes even below cost prices.

- Undertail exhaust. It was not the Ducati 916 (as may people think) that was the first production bike with such a design, but the NR750.

- Single-side swingarm. Actually, this was not a new concept on the NR750. But it was not a new concept on the Ducati 916 (again, as many people think) either! The RC30 race bike and 1988 Honda Hawk GT Had it!

Actually don't need go SLS, hd is all around market rate...

You could try going to Challenger/Pk computer, I got my PK toshiba 500gb at 129, and that was a bout 12-18 months ago...

Now according to Fuwell's price list, its $89, but didn't see the brand...

And just one more side note, once you get your hard disk, make sure its NTFS, especially for those who want to back up their games/software, the only difference is that, NTFS can handle file transfer of 16 or 32 gb, i can't remember which, but FAT32 is maxed at 4gb....
