MSCP all start using ERP gantries liao, still need to pull canvas meh?

Tell that to the ppl in Seng Kang who parked their bikes in MSCP and got vandalized, parts stolen, or even completely stolen.

Covering your bike is not all about running from season parking.

Ah OK. My bad.

But don't they have this stupid handheld unit which they can simply pass over the bikes to detect?

Its gg to take time doing this. The parking attendant wouldn't know where the owner mount the season parking tag if its covered by canvas.

Those are different things.

U r taking an actual tangible object away. So you'll have to pay for it, otherwise it is considered direct theft.

This is parking. It is simply..... space. Something intangible.

But since you want an analogy, i give you one.

Let's say, I LIKE TO BUY PIRATED DVDs. I BT the sh!t out of music, movies and software.

Screw original stuff, and screw IP, and screw those companies which invested time and $$ into making those things.

How?

I beg to differ.... It shouldn't be classified as different things.. Space is still smething that can be seen and use..... In this case, u are paying to leave your vehicle there....... Be it tangible or intangible... u should pay for what u use / enjoy.... agree??

As for your analogy, u like to buy pirated DVDs.... At the end of the day, u are still paying for the physical DVD..... Blank disc maybe $1.... U pay $5-$10 for the pirated DVD..... u paying for the ah bengs who burned and packaged swee swee for u........ Do u go to the DVD stalls at JB and take their DVD w/o paying?? I doubt so............ :D

But if u do tat, i will salute u......

In an ideal world, yes I should be paying for the things I take or use.

But since this is not an ideal world, and I'm not an ideal specimen of a morally upright human being, I won't pay for parking whenever i can.

OK, what's the reason why I don't pay for season parking. Easy. If I pay, I can only park in that one particular MSCP. My area has 3 MSCPs that are equidistant, and I like to park wherever I choose, whenever I choose. If I pay, then I restrict myself to that one choice.

As for pirated DVDs, well... the pirates already stole the stuff, and the physical DVD is just the medium for the actual product (ie the data on the disc). So in effect, i'm still not paying for the stuff I'm using.

Damned do I feel good about it or what!

It's the parking space on the ground. It is meant for parking, not multi-purpose. It's not intangible just by being space. Parking in midair is intangible. Totally. If you can.

You may get arrested when you buy pirated DVDs, you may be investigated and sent a letter when you BT. Just whether it gets to you or not. In short, it just means you like to take advantage of others. Which may also mean that you can be taken advantaged of. :D

That's right. It's always a gamble when you do this kinda things.

For parking, you mitigate your risk of fines by covering up the bike in a very inconvenient fashion for the wardens to check.

For illegal DVDs, you either get someone to deliver it to you away from your actual address, or you smuggle it back home successfully.

If you get away with it, well.... you got away with it. Pat yourself on the back and enjoy the fruits of your risk. If not, pay the fine, and decide if you wanna play the game again.

(For parking... definitely. :D )

if you dun wish to pay for your season parking by covering your bike, then dont complain that they removed your bike cover. cos they need to put your summon ticket somewhere.

they actually dun have to remove your bike cover at all if they simply want to check if you put your rfid tag in your bike. dun even have to display it.

alternatively, buy a private property. :)

Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.

Covering up the bike doesnt necessarily means trying to evade the summons being issued becoz no season parking. Its when u have season parking and covering up ur bike to cover ur blings2.. but end up the warden still open it up..

And that's why you have to cover your bike and secure the cover tightly and cleverly such that they cannot identify your bike at all.

That's the whole point of this thread! :D

Just park your bike in the bushes. It's not a valid parking lot as it may be dirty and at times wild animals, mammals or insects could be the parking attendant. What they do is left their waste/ faeces onto your canvas. If you're lucky, you meet some cute squirrels or even humming bird. Other than that, the python or cobra ( which are common found in Singapore ) might sneak into the canvas to join the ride. Most likely you got tickets from N.E.A. but rarely happen. Most important thing is you meet your goal. Daily free parking :)

Appreciate yr honesty about the moral part........ Anyway, each individual's view.... For me, I will pay the parking in exchange for peace of mind.... I reckon tat a small price to pay for smething priceless........

As for pirated DVDs, hey... i'm also a supporter of them.... I do frequent cinemas to catch movies but those shows I fail to catch, I will buy the Dvds...... So plus minus, I am still being fair.... I support both the bright and dark side.......

Anyway, back to the topic..... To cover bike tightly to protect yr bike is not wrong.... I do that as well....If I could, I would keep it air sealed..... :cheeky: U indicate your no plate on your canvas, they check and cleared.... No harm is done.... But the purpose of covering your bike is to evade paying for season parking is wrong IMHO...... So they try to find yr no plate to verify their database... U kpkb that they mess up or even damage your canvas... They are only doing their job..... why must make things difficult for people when they are only making a living??

However, if you have done all the right thing and still yr canvas gets damaged, then u have all the right to kpkb.... Make sure all hell breaks loose when u complain....... :D

Yeah. I go to the movies too. :D

After all, some movies are meant to be watched on the big screen. Like Transformers 1 and 2, Ironman, etc.

And when the DVDs come out..... I go buy the friendly edition to keep.

Dunch say I never contribute hor. :p

As for parking. Let's just look at it from another point of view.

The warden sees a covered bike. Real tight. If the carpark still works with the old season parking coupon system, how would he/she know if the bike has purchased season parking or not?

Most people don't have the habit of spraying their plate number on the canvas. That's just ugly. It might be a season skipper, or it might have a valid season parking coupon.

How far would he/she go to verify the vehicle? To the point of damaging the cover? Tearing it apart? Cutting a slit in it?

So in the end, if the cover is damaged, I'll pay the fine and still kick up a fuss to demand compensation for a damaged cover. Those are separate matters. ;)

But thankfully, most wardens won't bother to do this. There're so many other cars in the carpark... they can have the quota fill elsewhere.
