Ok lah....to be fair. I look at all the riders on the road.

 

But guys.....well......they all look the same.....not much to describe.........can only say its: Bike & helmet......some errmm......rides fierce....some erm....rides like ah pek.

 

My radar is tune towards the females. Its natural instinct. We females looks at females and note the females. You males look at females and note the females. But if you boys want to mention that errrm.....you radar on males on bikes......errmm.....thats your business.

I agree that there are more females riding. I just passed recently and in my passing group of est 40-50 people, at least got 14 girls PASS. Heehee.

 

It's not really the idea of looking cool or attention seeking. I'm actually sick of the crowded and long commute between work and home and not to mention whenever want to stay out late have to think twice just because wallet pain from midnight taxi charges.

 

But ... to the girl riders out there, do your parents give you a lot of nagging **** when you tell them you want bike? From DAY 1 I told them ... everyday nag. My mom even cut out newspaper cuttings about bike accidents and put them on my table to read to discourage me.

 

But now pass liao, bike booked liao ... so ... all I can promise to my parents and friends is that I'll be careful.

 

Ohoh and I saw before long ago ... girl wear SKIRT to ride bike ... I was like ... won't expose meh???

to be fair, any mode of transport has chance of killing the rider. the main factor is they person riding/driving it.

 

just gotta convince your parents you ride safe, or invite them to pillion and ride them around to let them know how you ride. maybe will put them at ease. but being a parent, worrying is part of the job. never ends.

folks, you gotta understand the way a parent thinks. its not just about how you ride. parents think of every possibility when it comes to the safety of their children. i know cos i worry about my boys not because of the way they cross roads...but because of the way people drive...also because of the way my mom still worries for me when i ride even though i am almost half a century old!

 

so yes. show your parents that you have a safe riding style. that you take good care of your bike...regular service...good brakes...good tires...clean etc. that you take good precautions when you ride. AND that you protect yourself from other people who may hit you...or when the unexpected happens...by getting good protective gear. when you do all of the above, it will be a lot easier.

 

remember, it is true that you can go on any vehicle anytime...but on a bike...well...it just looks more likely.

I was pissy at one point that they: a) confiscate bike, b) lock bike keys away, c) talk to me about bike accidents, and d) bought me a 3-wheeler (with max speed of 80km/h). Lol, what to do? Just gotta wait it out (and upgrade license in the mean time).

 

And, I manage with skirts (mostly office skirts or long bohemian skirts, sometimes wear leggings underneath) -- for convenience. No accidents yet!

aiya. as long you don't wear bandage skirt or something so tight (skirt). There are so many ways to prevent (coffee shop open bigbig)..

 

even u wanna wear that kind of skirt, just use your cardigan or jacket to cover lorhz...

I seriously think it's better to be safe than sorry.. Accidents do occur.. and you never know when...

So far i have had a few minor accidents and good thing i was wearing my mesh armour jacket.. the only scar i had was in my 1st year of riding. And another on my knee on the 5th year. And damm.. i'm gonna get a touring/mesh pants.. thats the only thing i didn't have for years.. lol

Do protect your self gals.. Cause we do wear skirts! lo
