1) ask the bikeshop to install 1 new IU for you. of cos they charge $150+ GST for it.

2) source for a 2nd hand IU, install and register under your bike.

Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.

if u have experienced passing gantry w/ cashcard error & letter dint go to u means IU belong to u.

why?

because the cops dint turn up at yr door after that!

:cheeky:

if the IU had belonged to someone else, confirm the fella create big hoohaa at LTA or some other govt department, which eventually the offender will be traced to yr bike & then to u~

interesting question.

on the IU shld have a small white sticker at the side with serial number rite?

on ur vehicle registration slip (log card) shld have a part "IU label no" which corresponds to the sticker on the IU.

that is the case for the car and previous bike in which i was the 2nd owner.

BUT for my current brand new bike, the "IU label no" on the log card is empty.

so i'm guessing that for a brand new vehicle, the details of the IU were not entered into the LTA system yet, at the time of printing.

Okay. I have found mine. Let me teach you guys how to see. :) In OneMotoring they state the IU number under "Enquire & Print veh reg. details" . Then they will state it in the field below.

eg:

IU NUMBER: 123456798

The at the left part of the IU, there is a white sticker. So just compare the numbers.

Also i wanna ask, if they say "Number of transfers", does it mean the number of transfers left or how many times has it been transferred?

eg:

No. of transfers: 5

Thanks.

So if its 5 means the owner is the 6th owner?

So if its 1 the owner is the second owner?

But i thought is the number of times left it can be transferred? I heard before that for bikes was that bikes can be transferred for a maximum of 7 times.

So confirm its the number of times it has been transferred?

transfers = 1 means first owner. transfer is from 0 (ah gong) to 1 (you).

to check your iu ownership you can drop by vicom. i know vicom changi can check, they ever check for my bike iu, registered to previous owner. haven't transfer for some reason. so they do it for me on the spot. likely your iu error when going thru erp gantry, the letter was sent to one of the previous bike owners. if your bike is a new bike with used iu, then the letter was likely sent to the previous iu user.

But i checked that my IU belongs to me in the OneMotoring website. The serial number matches accordingly. So how can it be that it belonged to the previous person when the number matches in OneMotoring?

Anyway, if check IU must pay money?

perhaps lta really did not send a letter out at all? the error was something which they could not fault you for? after that incident, did you pass by any more gantries with error too? if your iu is fine after that, they'll probably know that (records of you going thru another gantry) and won't bother sending you a letter.

It only happened to me 2 or 3 times. But all is totally random and very far apart from each other.

My cashcard was in the IU, with money. When i placed it inside, it was working properly. Then go through gantry, got error, no money deducted.

I still havent gotten any letter. My DIPS also no points.

How?

So lets say i am the first owner of the bike. So Ah Kong to me is 1.

Then if i sell to shop, will it be 2?

Then shop sell to me it will be 3?

Is it like that?

one of my vehicle also i 1st owner but put no of transfers = 1 leh... i juz checked online @ onemotoring!

weird huh???

Vehicle to be Exported: Yes

Intended De-registration Date: 08 Feb 2010

Vehicle Make: HONDA

Vehicle Model: WAVE125S

Primary Colour: Blue

Manufacturing Year: 2002

Engine No.: NF125MDE0037980

Chassis No.: NF125MD0037980

Open Market Value: $1,850.00

Original Registration Date: 30 Nov 2002

First Registration Date: 30 Nov 2002

Transfer Count: 1

**********************************************

eh wait wait... i double checked with another 2 family vehicles (cars) and found that their transfer count is 0... maybe i was wrong... maybe the bike shop register my bike in their name first before transferring it to me...

so...

1st owner = 0

2nd owner = 1

.

.

.

much like low-level computer code. primary hdd = hdd0, secondary hdd = hdd1, etc etc

anyway, bro, since you mentioned all 2-3 times are random and far apart, it could be within the acceptable error tolerances for the technology. my car IU also got a similar problem, when entering ERP carparks can detect but when exiting i have to drive super close to barrier, then can deduct the carpark fees. there were even some occasions when i parked for 4-5 hours and the barrier raised for me without deducting any value from my cashcard!!! the signboard indicate e.g. parking time : 4hr 28min, and total amount: $6.80 and then the beep beep sound, then barrier raise and i drive through WITHOUT deducting anything from my cashcard.

juz accept lor, that your IU could have some random intermittent faults. as long as no letter from LTA, and the IU is already in your name, just ride as per normal.

So i don't need to go to Viacom? Because in One motoring my IU number is the same as my IU number on my bike. I scared wait later kenna some hefty fine because the previous guy cheat car park or the owner sue me becuase i tio saman but still under his name. Sian.

hmm... i'd use these three words if queried about IU errors by LTA... "i donch know"

reason: i riding bike, i see the road not see the IU. i don't keep track of my cashcard balance so i dunno whether its deducted correctly or not. any beeps i can't hear because i wear helmet (duh). if you didnt tamper with the IU then they gonna fine you under what offence?

dun worry lah bro, but if you are really really concerned about this matter then can just go down to vicom to check. call first, not all vicom centres have IU checking facility.

Here's a list of places you can go to get your IU checked.
