hey..

NP student and proud owner of a super 4 here. just so happen (really lucky) that my fyp is on motorbikes in particular the safety of the pillion rider. we are almost finished with a universal adapter that will give the pillion a proper grip of the bike (instead of those silly things they have to hold on to at the back of most bikes). feel free to give your opinions on this and any other things that would improve pillion safety. would really appreciate all the help...

thanks lots :)

Touring, cruisers or street bikes

Putting that type of fencing around a sports bike is just :faint:

The thing I hate most about riding a sports bike the lack of options to put a box.. Everything also must stuff in pockets/ put under pillion seat or carry a backpack everywhere.

Universal adapter being?

Think it's much safer for the pillion to hug/hold/thigh-kiap the rider in an incredibly gay fashion, than it is to hold on to the bike.

I'd love to see the adapter though. Pictures please! (besides the one of the cage).

interesting...

does the pillion need to be same size? or fat one skinny one small one big one all can fit?

boring rider. with a boring bike.

too old to want to appear interesting anymore.

I tink there is a rider belt for pillions. This would allow better grip and more safety.

No motor cycle [which has provision for pillion rider] shall be constructed without provision for a permanent hand grip on the side or behind the driver’s seat and a foot rest and a protective device covering not less than half of the rear wheel so as to prevent the clothes of the person sitting on the pillion from being entangled in the wheel.

Section128. Safety measures for drivers and pillion riders. -

(1) No driver of a two-wheeled motor cycle shall carry more than one person in addition to himself on the motor cycle and no such person shall be carried otherwise than sitting on a proper seat securely fixed to the motor cycle behind the driver's seat with appropriate safety measures.

(2) In addition to the safety measures mentioned in sub-section (1), the Central Government may, prescribe other safety measures for the drivers of two-wheeled motor cycles and pillion riders thereon.

For violating Safety Law by manufacturers registration of motorcycle banned by High Courts in India, in turn sales stopped and now manufacturers made an appeal in Supreme Court of India.Globally all manufacturers are manufacturing motorcycle unsafe killing riders.

On riders safety readers can get all technical and legal information.

Y not study how to fall appropriately? How to jump or fly appropriately? How to react, what post/position should be next when hit or throw out of d bike?

Posted

ghost, Pillion n rider can chit chat if the rider is SLEEPY..remember SLAP d driver/rider if out of course!!! If it is a long ride, itz better to talk on n off lah. isnt it safer?

Pillion must help to keep a lookout, so that the pillion can 'react' in time too mah
