today i finally able to snap some photos of an 18 inch enduro front tyre..Its TUBELESS!wooohoo...Michelin Sirac...

 

I saw this particular varadero125 at golden landmark sometime back and saw that the front tyre is michelin sirac but didnt take notice that its tubeless...

 

i went to Mah Motorparts and spoke to Jeffery,he told me Sirac 18inch is never tubeless...which end up i have to buy the non tubeless for rear to convert to front..

 

But as of today,i can confirm that we actually have tubeless front tyre 18inch dual sport tyre...i managed to snap this photo while i was at Tamp...

 

i will ask the vara guys if they know where to buy it...this will be my next front tyre...woohoo....tubeless front dual sport 18inch tyre...

there's ever mentioned of $16.8k from a local shop (refer pass few pages ago) but at de end when 1 of de curr tdm owner asked de shop before he got his bike, boss/salesman give some kind of lame excuse sia.. (if u hear SURE laugh like hell man..) something like.. "oh, the $16.8k tdm is referrin to restricted model only.." when insist on de restricted model, say "oh, that wan, no stock ready.. " KNN! -> -> anyway, i thk we shd :bow: to the shop boss/salesman.. can get entrepreneur of de yrs, (but type-C)

 

 

Cut de story short; BEST ans is you go down and ask de shop.. shd be in the region of 17-18k otr bah.. (if wrong, dun flame me... i nt worth that)

here's more insight to the story. the 16.8k quoted is OTR without IU, with 3rd party insurance. i paid $160+ for IU with installation (which came with an aluminium bracket!...note...not stainless steel). my rear licence plate is the sticker type, not the acrylic one.

 

when i offer to pay cash in full, the person told me that this quotation is for another version that has power cut, and needs some time for import in, and no guarantee that i'll get it too. so, must fork out another few hundred $$ for the model from HL, with no power cut, and available immed. i dont think i want to verify this, but it doesnt make sense for yamaha to make 2 versions - one with and one without power cut! so i think this is a very unethical way to do business. the shop will earn less if i do not pay by instalments, but should make it transparent to me (ie, tell the truth) by saying that the quote is for instalment purchase. As an aside, i read in other threads, that this shop previously do not sell the new bike if you are not paying by instalments!! of course, there is no way for me to verify this, and couldnt be bothered to... but a smaller profit margin is still profit...

 

however, i heard (also dint bother to verify) that the same shop is very strict on repayment...and will enforce a penalty for late payments and also repossess the bike, even for a couple of days' lateness. of course this is from hearsay...

 

HL will give you a price list (ask for it...it contain prices for all yamaha bikes)indicating machine price and add ons. so worth your while to pay them a visit first. also can look at the bike. the 08 model comes in 3 colours - midnight black, lava red, and tech silver. the tech silver model's engine is grey while the others are black. no mention of power cut in the owner's manual too!

 

look around if you have the time. another recent owner bought from another shop was given 1st party insurance!! other shops may have other freebies. Oh, i must credit the shop i bought from that they gave me a helmet...

 

anyway, the price diff among the various shops is quite small when you factor in the type of insurance, instalment interest rates, etc. all shops will give u the warranty by HL (unless you get the model that has the power cut!!!).

 

pls dont ask me which shop or where it is located...i dont want to receive any laywer's letter. As for whatever i have written, it is based on my personal experience and the others from what i heard or read. The intention of this entry is to share my experience, not to put down any person or shop.

decided to install side boxes instead of top. these few days rainy...have to carry raincoat in bag, and lube the chain more often...so laychay.

 

 

Q: if i install the HB rack, will it fit boxes from HB of different capacities?

 

Q: thinking of fitting the scottoiler...any feedback? this should put aside the need of the mainstand, i hope.

 

anyone thinking of doing these? pm me & we can look around together.

for H&B sideracks,yes...it could fit almost all the H&B sidecases...there's Gobi,there's junior,there's journey,and there's standar alu...so take your pick...i think best is still junior...can fit fullface.and rugged...

 

for the H&B sideracks,is $350 at M-tecknik...but it dont comes with the sidecases lock adapter...that is another $30-$40 a pair...

 

scottoiler is good stuff..but be sure to add the filter for the vacumm...if not,the fluid will flow like free flow...

 

mainstand is still best option in getting...sooner or later,you will want it...so why wait...

the lock adapter is screwed on to the rear end of the rack...without that,you can't lock the cases...

they will say that erp is to help reduce unnecessary trips. but if i have a car, i will use it to work even if if goes thru 3 gantries everytime! unless erp prices go up to $5, we will still be driving.
