Hey guys, recently I had went down to loois motor and saw the tenere physically. I sat on it and immediately fell in

love with the bike. Can you guys give some good and bad review of the bike and maybe also the fuel consumption?

Actually it's been years i've been wanting to ride an adventure, which is the GS1200 Adventure. The only thing which

has been holding me back is the price. Before I physically see the Tenere, I've already had made up my mind on the

Hypermotard, which is more practical for me to ride on our road as Im quite tied up with work for an touring.

After I saw the tenere I felt delima about both bike. Maybe you guys here can tell me what is the bike all about.

Anyway Loois motor is selling at 35k OTR with side panniers, headlight protector and maybe other stuff which im

unaware. Is there any other shop is giving better deals? Thanks in advance.

i did not have any chance to ride BMW,so can't comment,

Choose Tenere first of all definitely the brand,Trust, reliability and proven..

Features that other bike may have.

Tubeless Rim,TCS,Liquid cooling system,Unified braking system.throttle by wire,shaft driven.

Although they claim the heaviest dual sport, but once on the move it's very nimble and

stable at high speed, comfortable wise it's much better than my prev FJR, i'm able to ride for 10hrs

from chachoengsao to hatyai comfortably.Lastly worth the $$.

last year when i book machine price at 28.5k,

Im not too sure about that. Is there any different? Im new to this, can you highlight me about bikes from PI and HL? Any review about this bike on our local road?

Just get the HL S10 for now. A few shops selling the agent S10. Currently the PI S10 is too expensive. Because it travelled from Japan - Europe - Singapore.

Review from the locals:

1) it's not very quick but it is firm otr

2) it gets abit hot for city riding

3) it gets some attention due to relatively new otr

For its specs, it is a great bike. On another conti bike with the same specs, it will cost many more. My 2 cents

Thanks guys for all those info. Wow, now tempting to own one. But I have to do more research on it. You guys got any recommended shop for me with the best deal? I wonder is it wise to get from the agent. What I want the bike to come with is the side pannier, top box for my helmet( sick of bringing my helmet around ), full crash bar n of cuz headlight protector.

so far, the OTR quotes I have seen:-

AV motor tiams: 30K- 31K

BP: 28K

Mah Motor : 32K for the silver one..

Excel cannot remember.

Loois: ? Mr Lee's quote

Looks like gotta wait for the hype to simmer down before the pricing stabilise.

Some of the shops that sell the S10.

There's a black one at one of the shop. But you have to pay in gold for it. Cash is not king

Very detailed local review

I din really push the bike hard as its still running in. And I have only rode the GS & Vee each for a short distance before so I can't really compare much between the bikes. Anyway, my comments as below:

- The TCS really works well both onroad & offroad. I tried to slide the rear purposely a few times but the TCS caught on almost immediately and manage the power delivery to the max possible without really spinning the tyres. Onroad, this translate to good corner holding. Sometimes when I am too low & fast into a corner, the bike seems to suddenly cut a sharper line before blasting out with the tyres firmly on the ground all the while without me changing the throttle position. This feels very much like closing and opening the throttle sharply in a corner while riding a v-twin. So it makes hard cornering a lot easier. Offorad, the bike feels very planted on the rear, never giving me any hairy moments on gravel, rutty, gravel or soft soil. There is a distinct drop in power delivery though. It feels almost like a clutch slip, and it really prevents you from doing anything silly. I tried a rutty stretch with the TCS off on S mode and the power delivery suddenly picked up so much the front wheel was pratically airborne each time I hit a rut! Try to off the TCS onroad and the bike feels so much more powerful. The response is sharper and popping the front is easy.

- The ABS & LBS feels extremely different from other ABS. On traditional ABS, you can feel the wheel skip while the ABS is being applied. On the Tenere, when I slam in the brakes, I can still feel the brake pegs/lever jumps rapidly as it releases & engages but the wheels doesn't feels like they are skipping much at all. The releasing feels like it is done just before the wheels lock so the wheel skip is very much reduced. It adds plenty of confidence as controlling the bike becomes so much easier. Bliping the throttle & dropping the gears while you are hard on the brakes bring the bike to a stop in a very surprisingly short distance. The only complaint I have is the jerky feeling when you are at slow speed & tapping lightly on the brakes. HL explains that its because the brake pads are "floating" & so there is small movement on the calipers at slow speed. I am just not used to that.

- I stripped the tank & bikini fairing from the bike and am amazed at the position of the engine. The center portion of the bike seems almost empty with the engine way in front. The tank & the rider occupies the central location & the boxes on the rear. Looks & feels very balanced. Once its on the move, I can pretty swing it around anyway I want without much trouble. Much easier to handle than it looks. Even when off balanced, a hard tap of the foot on the ground brings it back up level. I haven't had the chance to cruise at higher speeds yet but at 130-140kmh the bike is firm & steady both on the brakes & throttle. I average about 18.5km/l cruising on 130kmh. I hope this will improve as I progress to fully syn later on.

- There is a flat spot at about 3k rpm across all gears though. The bike response like a single at the low revs & is jerky from 3-3.5k rpm. Extremely disappointing as this is the most common rev I find myself in. It can be eliminated by slower throttling or dropping gear. I hope this can be rectified with a change of airfilter & PC later on. Otherwise the engine is punchy and very fun to ride.

- The suspension is fully adjustable & that is a great plus point. I enjoy the ease of adjustment especially when you are riding through varying types of road with changing weigh loads on a trip. The front tarvel feels too long on the highway but I guess its the same with all 19in wheels. It takes a wider cornering line on the 19in wheels & longer travel compared to a sports bike but that is to be expected.

Overall, I am extremely pleased with the bike. It is capable of doing everything which I want to do & more. Comparing the technology & the price of its competitors I would say it is value for money. The bike's main objective for me will be travelling in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia & Vietnam. The roads I tested in malaysia are similar to what I will encounter further up north. Some ppl had asked me what I feel about the unswitchable ABS thingy but it does not bother me. I am not going to bring it to any hardcore offroad, I have my XR250 for that. Sliding around a 300kg fully laden bike is not what I want to do on a long trip. On a long adv ride I want comfort, ease of travelling though unexpected rough terrain, and maintaining firm control of the bike. I prefer to be safely planted on these trips. If I want to do something crazy, I will go there & rent a 250. I did off the ABS once just to see if there's any power difference & no there isn't.

For those of you interested, I bought all the accessories from HL. They have the price list of all the parts so you can drop by & ask them. The MSRP of some of the stuff are below but how much discount HL gives you depends on how close you are with them. Hope this review helps, all above comments are my own & opinions may differ for other riders. Enjoy your rides, I will post more gradually as I go more varying roads.

panniers - $850 (per side)

panniers mount - $390

headlight protectors - $200

Skid plate - $310

Tank bag - $300

crashbar - $675

(all prices does not include GST & installation charges if any)

Bro,once we arrived at hatyai train station at 2pm,the whole bike just handover to them, just get what we need to look out for cheap hotel to refresh ourself, thereafter head to train station at 6pm and board in at 06:30pm.next morning at 10am reached bangkok central station Hua Lamphong.from there ride towards route 34 and exited at road to chachoengsao town and then exit Sakeo towards aranyaprathet(thai border)

I don't think so there is BIKE insurance to ride in Cambodia,we just bought thai insurance for 9 days at gurun R&R.in cambodia you just need to get letter to import/export bike.

Thanks for your help bro.. really worth for me to take all the notes down. Lastly regarding the import/export bike documents in cambodia, this will be done at Cambodia customs itself i assume?

Great bro.. Btw is it possible u email me the list of hotels u stayed in Thailand and Cambodia along with the prices? Thanks. This so i can roughly gauge the time needed and cost for the trip if i plan to go even further up. Also this will serve as my pit stops for the trip. I shall be riding all the down like u do as well..

HI S10 owners,

so far ,how u guys pump the tyres ? Is it possible without using the 90deg adapter ?

Nice stripes up there........ wonder whats the damage ? Can we get something similar locally ?

Should be possible like any spoke rims out there. Just need to navigate thru the spokes. The L adaptor will be definately easier.
